Broadcast 336 (Special Edition)

Paul Smith returned to The Space Show to discuss his new book, "Reading the Enemy's Mind: Inside Star Gate--America's Psychic Espionage Program", and to share his thoughts with us on how remote viewing can be used to facilitate our becoming space-faring. Mr. Smith explained the history and nature of remote viewing and spoke openly about its capabilities, advantages, and limitations. In response to listener questions, he explained how it could be used to help project the winning companies in the alt.space or entrepreneurial space community.

Wally Schirra and Ed Buckbee returned to The Space Show to discuss their new book, "The Real Space Cowboys." This is a must read for anyone interested in our Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo space programs. The book, published by Apogee, includes a terrific DVD with lots of new material, some of it quite funny. Not only did Wally and Ed talk about their experiences and the history which they each lived, we discussed issues of current importance for our becoming space-faring.

Kenneth Murphy was the guest for this Space Show program. We began the interview by discussing Ken's involvement with the National Space Society and the coming ISDC annual conference for the NSS in Washington, DC later this month. We had an extensive discussion with Mr. Murphy about education, outreach, NASA outreach, NSS and other space organizations and their outreach programs. We had stimulating questions from the listeners in the area of education, space books and libraries, science considerations for students and much more.

Alan Boyle was the guest for this Space Show program. We talked about his work as MSNB.com's science editor, covering hydrocarbon formation theory to dinosaurs, and then on to space. Mr. Boyle was in Florida at the Cape for the dress rehearsal for the coming Discovery shuttle flight and reported to us on what was going on today as well as sharing his views with us on return to flight. We also discussed the ISS, repairing Hubble, the private sector entrepreneurial launch companies, space tourism, and the entire alt.space effort at commercial space industrialization. Mr.

The first ever Space Show program before a live audience was recorded at the Space Access Conference in Phoenix, Arizona the evening of April 30, 2005. Many familiar Space Show guests took to the microphone to discuss not only what they were hearing at the conference but how best to move forward to a full space-faring economy. In addition, new Space Show participants joined the broadcast to provide us with their perspective and solutions. Many of these new Space Show participants will be guests on the Space Show later this year.

Robert Zimmerman returned to The Space Show to update listeners on the happenings within the space community. We discussed return to flight with the upcoming Discovery shuttle flight, the new NASA Administrator Dr. Mike Griffin, Hubble, the Voyager program, and more. Bob pointed out the difference in NASA this year in its open support of many alternative and advocate space conferences, including ISDC among others. Zimmerman was also quick to point out some of the rough spots that are still plaguing NASA, including possible truthfulness, numbers, and more.

Jim Benson returned to The Space Show to update us on SpaceDev and to bring us other important news regarding the alt.space community. Mr. Benson began the interview by responding my question about young college grads going into the alt.space world for careers. He said they were interviewing lots of engineering applicants, that SpaceDev was hiring several engineers and that the available talent pool was growing and was very high quality.

Dr. Allan Paull joined the growing Space Show guest family with this very special Thursday evening program to discuss the Australian HyShot Scramjet Test and Flight Program and scramjet technology in general. We started the interview with a good basic explanation of scramjet technology and where we are today with developing scramjets as well as what the future might hold for scramjets. Many listeners asked technical questions about scramjet engines, rocket and flight parameters, fuel used, ablative materials and temperature and operational windows for scramjet vehicles.

Linda Plush and Dr. Eleanor O'Rangers of the Space Nursing Society were the guests for this program. They spoke about various aspects and details of human factors affecting space travel. This discussion ranged from factors that impact well-trained astronauts to the factors most likely going to impact the average space tourist. These factors include space sickness, acceleration problems, medicines, female reproductive issues, bone issues, possible mental issues and lots more.

Dr. Simon Mitton, Cambridge University astronomer and author of the new book about the life of Fred Hoyle, Conflict In The Cosmos: Fred Hoyle's Life In Science, was the guest for this Space Show program. Dr. Mitton began the interview by telling us how he ended up at Cambridge as an astronomer and about his early experiences meeting Fed Hoyle. Dr. Mitton then talked about some of the very significant and important scientific contributions by Dr.
