Mark Hopkins was the guest for this Space Show program. Mark began the interview with some National Space Society background but then we jumped right into a discussion about space settlement. This space settlement discussion was the primary topic and focus for this program. Mark Hopkins is very well prepared to discuss the importance of space settlement so don't miss this program as its full of new information and different perspectives.

Tom Olson was the special end of the year guest to bring 2006 on The Space Show to its conclusion. We looked back at 2006 and did much looking forward to examine the space development potential for 2007 and beyond. Tom fielded many listener questions about the NewSpace company business methodologies, focusing on issues that seem to adversely impact the economic development of New Space. This included financing issues, excessive secrecy of many New Space companies, website and rhetoric claims, and more.

Robert Zimmerman returned for this Space Show program. With some sarcastic humor and serious commentary, Bob Zimmerman spent much time during this program connecting the dots to a future successful space program to a resolution of many of the global political and economic threats facing the U.S. and the free world. No doubt many listeners will disagree with Mr. Zimmerman's political assessment of issues facing America and how they might impact space development but Mr. Zimmerman is clearly not the first to express these concerns nor he is the first to do so in the context of space policy.

Andrea Seastrand, Executive Director of the California Space Authority (CSA), was the guest for this Space Show program. Ms. Seastrand explained to us the role of the and we discussed many of its programs and the upcoming conference Dec. 1 and 2 in Los Angeles. The 2006 Transforming Space conference and SpotBeam Awards Dinner will be an important event to attend with a power packed program as well as those in attendance. Ms. Seastrand also hinted surprises for us given the conference is in Los Angeles and Star Trek is 40 years old this year. Ms.

Dr. Buzz Aldrin was the very special guest for this Space Show program. Buzz outlined a three point engagement plan for moving forward with space development, education, and engaging the public in space, specifically the VSE. This program started with his description of his ShareSpace Foundation, its educational work and objectives, followed by explaining the importance of coming up with the right nomenclature to properly describe those going to space as adventurers or explorers, not just tourists.

Dr. William Gaubatz and Dr. Patricia Hynes were the guests for this Space Show program to discuss the upcoming International Symposium on Personal Space Flight (ISPSF) and the X Prize Cup. The ISPSF is hosted by Space Grant New Mexico and New Mexico State University and is a terrific two day conference supporting private and commercial space development. Our program discussed this symposium in detail, pointing out the quality speakers, the agenda, and some of the very fun events being planned for those attending the symposium.

David Vivancos from Madrid, Spain joined us on The Space Show to discuss nanotechnology, space development, and space tourism. Mr. Vivancos gave us a good introduction and overview for nanotechnology, starting with space but also for other areas as well. For space, we discussed nanotechnology for space launch, propulsion and power, structures and materials, guidance and navigation, electronics and communications, scientific instruments and life support. We also discussed the impacts of nanotechnology for society, how it can be used for peace as well as for weapons. Mr.

Dr. John Pojman was the guest for this Space Show program. Dr. Pojman discussed materials and microgravity experiments on the ISS plus the general state of science on the ISS. We also discussed the field of chemistry and its relationship to space. He described "frontal polymerization" which is a reaction that makes plastics or composites propagate as affected by micro gravity. We discussed students and their work in the field, the future of studying chemistry for students and for their role in space development.

Dr. Barrett Caldwell joined The Space Show for this program. We spoke about his research and how he incorporates it in space education outreach with the Space Grant program he manages at Purdue University. Dr. Caldwell spoke about team performance and relating team work to space development. Team performance was also discussed in terms of long term space flight, gender differences, and age preferences. Dr. Caldwell then related his research findings and work to K-12 educational outreach.

Richard C. Hoagland returned to The Space Show for this 2 hour 15 minute very important look at the history of the alt. space industry and how to make space development relevant for the general population. Before starting the interview with Richard, a special surprise guest appearance by Dr. Robin Falcov treats Space Show listeners to health news, prescription information, and other updates from the last time Dr. Falcov was on the show.
