Dr. Steven Dick, an astronomer and historian of science at the U.S. Naval Observatory since 1979 and a well known expert in the field of astrobiology and its cultural implications, discusses the possibilities of extraterrestrial life, its implications for our life and culture, the likelihood of it existing, and whether there are any commercial possibilities in this area. We will also discuss with Dr. Dick the history of life on other worlds and the entire issue of searching for life off Earth.

Broadcast 83 (Special Edition) Dr. Douglas A. Vakoch

Dr. Douglas A. Vakoch of SETI discusses whether our search for life in the universe is really about discovering life off Earth or learning more about ourselves. We also explore just how we might turn our search for ET life into a successful commercial venture, and if the search for life off Earth helps, hinders, or is a non-issue for expanding space commerce. We will also discuss the latest on his research and the SETI efforts to find ET life.

Broadcast 77 (Special Edition) Mr. Robert Becerra

Robert Becerra, Attorney. Mr. Becerra discusses The FAA, its AST office and the issuing of launch licenses. He tells us about the typical requirements to obtain a license from the FAA for launches of expendable and reusable vehicles, and for reentry vehicles. Our guest has substantial experience with the process itself and many of the requirements, the launch regulations, and the required FAA applications
