Guest: Rick Tumlinson. Topics: U.S. Space Policy, Obama space policy, Constellation, NASA, space development. Rick Tumlinson was the guest for this two hour program divided into three segments. However, given that our topic of discussion for almost the entire show was the proposed new direction for NASA and the Administration's space policy, there was no need to break this description into segments. Rick began the discussion with some ground work regarding opening space to the human settlement and the frontier beyond Earth.

Lesson 9 focused on launch system economics, markets, demand, and the definition of commercial versus government launchers. In our fist segment, our guest panel expert, Dr. Hertzfeld, defined commercial which as you will hear was no easy task to do.

David Hook returned for this Space Show program to discuss several topics pertaining to commercial space development and policy. In our first segment, we reviewed the SUSTAIN conference from last year and talked about the Technology Roadmap that was developed from the conference but not activated.

Guest: Dr. Jeff Bell. Topics: space policy, space advocacy, human spaceflight. Dr. Jeff Bell returned to discuss space policy in light of the administration proposals. As you will hear in the this two hour interview, Dr. Bell had much to say that will irritate people on all sides of the issues and the space advocacy movement. So get comfortable listening to this program, listen carefully, and give thought to what Dr. Bell talks about. In our first segment, Dr. Bell referred to the Obama plan as Plan 1 and Plan 2.

Guest: Marcia Smith. Topic: Space policy and the workings of the U.S. budget and congress. Marcia Smith, the founder and editor of www.spacepolicyonline.com was our guest for this Space Show program. During our first segment, Ms. Smith told us about her background and space policy experience. We compared today's space programs/policy to what she has seen over the years. You might be surprised by this comparison. I then asked Ms. Smith to explain to us the budget process with congress.

Guests: Responsive Space Live Audience. Topics: Responsive Space issues, affordable space, Israel and small states, Apollo 13, PR, California space issues. This was our annual live audience Responsive Space program from the 8th Responsive Space Conference in Los Angeles. There were no breaks in the show. We started the program with a discussion led by Dr. Jim Wertz who opened the conference with the admission that this might be the last Responsive Space Conference. Thus, we discussed the significance and the progress so far of the responsive space programs and concerns.

As with all Classroom programs, the goal was to ground listeners on the facts of space flight. In our initial segment, Dan provided us with a basic understanding of both orbital and flight dynamics and what a Flight Dynamics Officer (FDO pronounced as Fido) actually does.

Robert (Bob) Zimmerman was our guest for this three segment two hour show devoted almost exclusively to discussing the new proposed space policy as put forth by the Obama Administration on Feb. 1, 2010. While this program was in three full segments, to summarize it by segment would be too limiting. Bob discussed the proposed space policy throughout the show.
