Ed Buckbee, Konrad Dannenberg and Sonny Morea were the special guests for this program. What can one say about this program with such an amazing guest list? Well, I can tell you again and again what these men created with the Saturn program, the Saturn V, going to the Moon, the lunar rover, the inspiration they gave America for generations and generations which continues today. Yes, I can tell you all of that and all of the subjects that we discussed regarding engines, engineering, rocket science, the Saturn, NASA then and NASA now, and more.

Ed Buckbee was the guest for this special Space Show program. We began the interview with Ed updating us as to new developments not included in his recently published book, "The Real Space Cowboys." In response to questions, Ed expanded the definition of a space cowboy to include those that worked behind the scenes to make the early astronaut flights possible. When asked if the Chinese and Russians were also space cowboys, you will be surprised at his answer. Ed described the program Greybeard, Inc.

Wally Schirra and Ed Buckbee returned to The Space Show to discuss their new book, "The Real Space Cowboys." This is a must read for anyone interested in our Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo space programs. The book, published by Apogee, includes a terrific DVD with lots of new material, some of it quite funny. Not only did Wally and Ed talk about their experiences and the history which they each lived, we discussed issues of current importance for our becoming space-faring.

Mr. Buckbee described his book which will be available from Apogee Publishing in May and which has contributions in it by former astronaut Wally Schirra. We talked with Ed about many subjects stemming from the Mercury Astronaut period. One of the more fascinating parts of the discussion was the surprising information on the competition between the astronauts and the chimps in the early space program.
