The Space Foundation Conference

Mr. Glen Robertson is the Technical and Organizing Chair for the Space, Propulsion & Energy Sciences International Forum. Mr. Robertson has 24+ years of service performing research and development tasks for the US government as an Aerospace engineer. Mr. Robertson has a B.S in Physicist and Mathematics and a Master of Sciences in Operations Research with an extension of classes in Engineering Management. In 2004, Mr. Robertson founded the “Symposium on New Frontiers and Advanced Concepts” held at the Space Technology Application and International Forum or STAIF and served as co-chair over the last five years. The objective of the “Symposium on New Frontiers and Advanced Concepts” was to maintain a forum that would allow for continued advancement of space - propulsion, power and communication – specifically those areas outside the conventional space propulsion arena in hopes to advance space propulsion technologies beyond their current engineering and theoretical levels. Mr. Robertson was to take over as chair of the New Frontiers symposium in 2009, but the STAIF conference folded after 25 years - due to the pull out of four of the six conferences/symposiums that made up its venue. After failure of the STAIF Executive committee to act, Mr. Robertson took it on himself to align the New Frontiers symposium with the remaining STAIF “Conference on Thermo Physics Application in Microgravity” to form a new forum called the “Space, Propulsion & Energy Sciences International Forum.” This new forum is intended to be like STAIF, but to focus more on science and less on engineering.

Broadcast 998 (Special Edition)

Guest: Glen Robertson was the guest for this Space Show program to discuss the upcoming The Space Propulsion & Energy Sciences International Forum (SPESIF) conference in Huntsville, AL from Feb. 24-27, 2009. Please visit http://www.ias-spes.org/SPESIF.html for online registration and details. As we learned, this conference is the successor to the very well-known and established STAIF conference previously sponsored by the University of New Mexico and held in Albuquerque, NM.
