The Space Foundation Conference

Bob Ward is the author of "Dr. Space: the Life of Wernher von Braun." Published 2005 by the Naval Institute Press in Annapolis, this is his fifth book on space subjects for Mr. Ward. The former managing editor and editor-in-chief of The Huntsville (Alabama) Times has written extensively about space since 1957. The recipient of numerous awards, he covered the Wernher von Braun rocket team for years as a reporter for the daily newspaper and as a correspondent to technical and trade periodicals in New York. The Birmingham, Alabama native studied engineering at Auburn University, then journalism and history at the University of Alabama. After graduation and a stint with a Birmingham industry, he joined The Times, where he worked for more than forty years. Since his retirement, Ward has been active as a freelance writer. He and his wife and family continue to live in Huntsville, home of Redstone Arsenal and NASA’s George C. Marshall Space Flight Center, and known to many as "Rocket City, USA." Ward’s previous books: "Where Do We Go From the Moon?"
