Dr. Robert Zubrin was back on The Space Show to discuss his new book, "How To Live On Mars: A Trusty Guidebook To Surviving And Thriving On The Red Planet." This is a terrific book with lots of excellent space artwork and, in addition to providing important and useful information, it's very funny. This is a book you must have!
Guest: George Morgan, playwright and author of "Rocket Girl," was the guest for this Space Show program. George's play is about his Mom, Mary Sherman, who invented the hydyne rocket fuel which is credited by many with saving the American space program. George told us the story of his Mom from her days riding a horse to school in Ray, North Dakota, to her coming to California to work for North American Aviation, to designing the hydyne rocket fuel for the Redstone rocket and our space program.
Guest: Dr. Michael Brooks, author of "13 Things That Don't Make Sense: The Most Baffling Scientific Mysteries Of Our Time," was the guest for this Space Show program. We started our discussion with Dr. Brooks regarding the things he talks about in his book, focusing in on dark matter, the placebo effect, the WOW signal, cold fusion, Pioneer 1 & 2, Viking, homeopathy, and free will. Listeners asked many questions about these issues and we explored each of them in some detail.
Guest: Dr. Michael Neufeld was the guest for this Easter Sunday Space Show program. Dr. Neufeld is the chair of the Space History Division of the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum and author of the biography, "Von Braun: Dreamer of Space/Engineer of War." As today's program is on what would have been the 96th birthday of Von Braun, having a discussion on his life was most appropriate. We discussed Von Braun's Nazi past and Dr.Neufeld was clearing up myths and rumors, providing us with factual history regarding Von Braun.
Guest: Joan Horvath. Joan Horvath returned to The Space Show to talk about her new book, "What Scientists Actually Do." You can learn more about, look at the table of contents, and even read an excerpt at the website, www.whatscientistsactuallydo.com. Joan explained why she wrote the book, the need for it, and what readers are the target audience. Our discussion soon turned to education with Ms Horvath providing a broad look at science and engineering education in our country, both with schoolchildren and adults.
