Lesson 9 focused on launch system economics, markets, demand, and the definition of commercial versus government launchers. In our fist segment, our guest panel expert, Dr. Hertzfeld, defined commercial which as you will hear was no easy task to do.

Guest: Open Lines with Dr. David Livingston. Topics: Nuclear rockets and propulsion, bone loss, radiation, VASIMR. This Open Lines program was a two hour plus discussion without a break regarding many issues ranging from space policy to nuclear propulsion. The VASIMR was again a focal point for discussion and this took us into a lengthy discussion of nuclear propulsion. Nuclear Thermal Rockets were the main topic but other nuclear propulsion concepts were discussed. This seemed to be the overwhelming topic as caller after caller talked about nuclear propulsion as well as radiation.

Our program today focused on the Go Boldly Campaign started by young aerospace industry professionals to urge our elected representatives to provide increased funding for NASA's human spaceflight programs. Our guests, Samantha Snabes and Jason Aranha, both part of the Go Boldly Campaign in Houston, were with us to talk about this program and their respective perspectives on space development, NewSpace, NASA and our civil space program, and human spaceflight.

Guest: Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman. Topics: space walks, space tourism, solid rocket boosters, space policy, space vision. Dr. Jeffrey Hoffman was our guest for this Space Show program. In our initial segment, we discussed the Hubble Space Telescope and its repair missions, training for the repair missions, and what its like to do work in space outside the spacecraft. We asked Dr. Hoffman about any sense of speed or height when doing a space walk and if space tourists could do an EVA.
