The Space Foundation Conference

Broadcast 997 (Special Edition)

Guests: Dr. Jeff Foust and Charles Miller returned to The Space Show to discuss their three part series, "The Vision for Space Exploration and the retirement of the Baby Boomers," in The Space Review. We started the discussion today with the introduction to the problem as they see it. Baby Boomers will soon be retiring and taxing the entitlement and other support aspects of the U.S. budget. Thus, there will be fewer funds available for the discretionary budget including NASA and programs such as the VSE.

Broadcast 892 (Special Edition)

Guest: Taylor Dinerman. Taylor Dinerman returned to The Space Show in order to discuss U.S. space policy, the current U.S. plans to shoot down a malfucnctioning U.S. spy satellite, and much more. During our first segment, we discussed the plans to use a U.S. Navy SM-3 missile to bring down the spy satellite, NRL- 21/USA 193. This prompted several listener questions about possible Outer Space Treaty violations, space debris, and why is this OK when the anti-satellite test that China performed in early 2007 was not ok?

Broadcast 793 (Special Edition)

Dr. Jeff Foust was the guest for this Space Show program. We started the discussion by asking Jeff how one submits an article to The Space Review (www.thespacereview.com). After talking about The Space Review, we asked Jeff for his comments on the New Space 2007 conference he attended this past week. Jeff provided a with a day by day accounting of the programming, starting with Thursday which was a commercial-military space plane day.

Broadcast 607 (Special Edition)

Dr. Sam Dinkin returned as the guest for this Space Show program. We began the interview with a brief update from Dr. Dinkin on his new blog, Decisive Win (www.decisivewin.com). Check it and comment on it. Dr. Dinkin continues to write for The Space Review but his posting on his own blog will now constitute his blogging rather than his previous contributions to Transterrestrial Musings. The conversation then moved on for updates about SpaceShot, Sam's new start-up skill game to allow people the opportunity to earn a trip to suborbital space.
