Guest: Rick Tumlinson. Topics: Space frontier development, private/public partnerships, Augustine Commission. Rick Tumlinson returned for this special two hour Space Show program. Each segment was one hour but an overriding theme went through the entire show. This theme was the need to develop the space frontier and that the private sector could do it, that the government civil space program should address space exploration from LEO and beyond, but Earth to Leo should be turned over to the private sector companies. As Rick said, NASA should buy the ride, not the rocket.

Guest: Al Reisz. Topics: space exploration, ECR space propulsion engine, space policy, Augustine, LCROSS. Al Reisz was the guest for today's Space Show program. The first segment started with a look back at some of Al's earlier work with the Saturn V and the J-2 engine. We spent some time discussing testing and the need to learn by failing in order to have success. Mr. Reisz had much to say that was important on this subject, don't miss it. We then discussed the work he is doing on his ECR, the Electron Cyclotron Resonance Space Engine.

Among the many topics discussed on the show, we talked about his new book, "Mars 3-D: A Rover's-Eye View of the Red Planet" which is widely available and offers unique 3 D views of the Martian planet. Dr. Bell spoke also about one of his earlier books, "Postcards from Mars." We talked about the Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity as he has been part of the rover team since the start, the Phoenix Lander, and Mars Express. We started our discussion with a walk back through history with the Mir Space Station, MirCorp, the Dennis Tito space tourism experience, Russian contracts, Energia, and much more. As Jeffrey was the man behind it all, listen to how doors were opened, how the Russians were willing to work with MirCorp to have a commercial business with the Mir Space Station and to fly Dennis Tito to Mir, then the ISS. You will hear about the three blocks that got in the way of MirCorp success.

David Moore was the guest for this program which explores the relationship between space and science fiction. During the discussion, Mr. Moore talked about myths that connect sci-fi with space and the marketing of space through sci-fi which can often lead to expectations based on fantasy and then disappointment. He talked about space as a frontier and the frontier's place in science fiction writing. As a result of listener questions, he connected dots with space exploration and science fiction. We talked about space and science fiction in Europe as well as Russia.

Dr. Bob Krone, Dr. Ken Cox and Langdon Morris were the special guests for this program to discuss their newly published book, "Beyond Earth: The Future of Humans In Space." Each guest provided listeners with information on not only their chapters in the book but the chapters of authors as well, plus we talked about the importance of space, making sure people know about space, its meaning and purpose, space commerce and much much more.
