We welcomed back Michelle Evans for this special one hour program regarding the 50th anniversary of the fatal crash of X-15 #3 with pilot USAF Major Mike Adams.  There will be several events taking note of this memorial anniversary starting Nov. 15 and then on Nov. 18 plus other days and times as well.  Michelle goes through all the dates and events for us for those of you who can attend these memorial services.  Michelle posted information about the events with directions on our blog so make sure you check it out.  If you attend, let us know about it and what you saw and experienced.

Michelle told us about the fatal flight for Mike Adams.  We talked about what happened, the official cause of the accident, and that Mike was the only X-15 pilot to be killed. in the program. In addition, Michelle talked about the X-15 program given her definitive book on the subject, "X-15: Wings Into Space, Flying the First Reusable Spacecraft."  I would urge you to listen to our many archived programs with Michelle about the X-15 as it was truly an amazing program with amazing pilots and the X-15.  We talked about the plane, the 8 pilots who flew the X-15, where they came from and why they wanted to do it.  Many of these discussions and stories led us into talking about the early days of the space program and the initial astronauts.  Michelle had story after story to tell us about all of this which took place in a very exciting time for our aviation as well as early space program.

Additional topics included the X-15 flight simulator and what happened to it, the carrier B-52 bombers and where they are now, plus several personal stories of the pilots and those involved with the program.  You do not want to miss what Michelle had to say.  Michelle also took a question about why Chuck Yeager did not fly the X-15.  Here, Michelle had much to say so for sue don't miss this part of our discussion.  Michelle and I would love to read your comments so do post them on our blog.

If you can, attend the Mike Adams memorial events and report back to us on TSS about them.  Please remember to post your comments/questions on our blog.  You can reach Michelle Evans through her website,  www.Mach25media.com.
