We welcomed back to the show Loretta Hall to talk about both her new book, "Miguel & Michelle Visit Spaceport America" and her suborbital flight training at the NASTAR Center.  During the first part of our 63 minute one segment program, Loretta talked about her book and why it was important to introduce young students to the spaceport and going to space.  As Loretta said many times in the show, she wanted to see the space excitement return for young kids similar to what many of us experienced during the early years of the space program and our going to the Moon.  Thus, Loretta talked about educational outreach to young students to get them started in thinking and learning about space.  What better way than a tour to a spaceport.

We talked about several passages in her book and the excellent art work in the book which was a creation by her daughter, Jennifer.  We also talked about teaching New Mexico space history to young students. Sadly, we learned that such teaching was not always available or carried out though New Mexico has one of the best space histories of any state.

Loretta updated us on Spaceport America facilities and development plus taking tours which are currently not available.  For current and more information on Spaceport America, visit their website at https://spaceportamerica.com.  If you have a young child at the appropriate age for Loretta's book, I strongly recommend you get it for your child.  Not only is it a great book for introducing a young student to space and spaceports, it is a book a youngster can learn to read and that is both important and beneficial.

In the second part of the show we talked about Loretta's Lynx and Virgin Galactic centrifuge profile "flights" at the NASTAR Center.  Loretta fielded many questions about the centrifuge which had a 25' arm, riding in the centrifuge car, experiencing 6gs and her training to breath properly during the g force load.  She flew both the Virgin Galactic profile and the Lynx profile.  Don't miss what she said about each one.  We also asked her several more general questions about being in a centrifuge so don't miss our discussion.

One thing Loretta mentioned was the experiment to do a type of guided meditation before going in the centrifuge.  Don't miss what she said about this and the impact on them for doing the guided meditation.   They also got to watch either other on a video monitor during their respective centrifuge experiences.  Loretta said this was helpful in preparing them for their "flight."

Before the program ended, we asked Loretta about her next book which she explained would address the nature of spaceflight.  Listeners asked a few more centrifuge related questions before the show ended.  Loretta left us with a good closing comment so be sure to hear it.
