The Space Foundation Conference

Jim Benson, Founder and CEO of SpaceDev, returned to the Space Show for this program. Mr. Benson discussed the Space Dev contribution to the rocket motor used in the X-Prize flights by Space Ship One and the importance of this flight. We discussed many other related topics including the newly obtained financing by SpaceDev, how the company obtained the financing, and the attitude of Wall Street investors toward SpaceDev and commercial space companies. Mr. Benson fielded questions from listeners, myself, and callers on a wide range of topics, from ITARS, to Richard Branson and his space tourism plans and vehicle, to when we will go orbital with the private sector, to getting space tourists on the Moon, and property rights in space on near-Earth objects and a planet or a distant moon. Mr. Benson covered many issues, many topics and was excited about the Space Ship One go for the X-Prize. You will not want to miss this program and his coming return to The Space Show on Oct. 19, 2004.
