We welcomed Leonard David back to the program for a space news perspective on 2021 with a look forward to 2022.  As with other programs, look to the tags and key words for a short but accurate summary of discussion topics for the program.  They are repeated below.

"Tags:  Leonard David, space tourism, SpaceX, Elon Musk, John Carmack, Starship, SLS, multi-planet species, Artemis, NASA Public Private Partnerships (PPP), returning to the Moon, China, super space race, economic consideration, Starship lunar lander, 2022 Year of The Moon, JWST launch, 29 days of terror, Musk Babylon Bee interview, wild cards for space development, Space Force, UAP information, New Space Journal, Russian Mars water study, Perseverance, the value of PR, China and the Moon, covid space and economic impact, Tic Tac, Dr. Avi Loeb Galileo Project, SETI challenges, paranoid planet, Overview Effect, Kessler Syndrome, space debris, National Space Council, space settlement, Mars 2022 with EXOMARS, RocketLabs, cislunar development, the SLS future with Starship success."

We had more callers than email questions for this program but first Leonard talked extensively about Starship, SpaceX, and space tourism.  A few emails came in asking about SLS plus Artemis but for sure Leonard had more to say about Starship and Musk overall plans.  As for talking about returning to the Moon, he seemed to indicate to me it was China's to have but you listen and you decide.  Post any comments/thoughts you might have on this subject on our blog.

The JWST was called out due to it finally being launch with all systems go.  A short call was received by David in Arizona asking Leonard if he had seen the Elon Musk Babylon Bee interview.  Leonard had not seen it but I did and recommend it for everyone.  Here is a link to it on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvGnw1sHh9M&list=RDCMUCyl5V3-J_Bsy3x-EBCJwepg&start_radio=1.  The interview is about an hour 45 minutes give or take but again, I think its worth watching.  Nothing in it is ground breaking but it does show a side of Musk we don't always see.

Fremont John called to talk about a new article in the NewSpace Journal which you will want to read.  Leonard and John talked about the new Russian study indicating large amounts of water on Mars, then Marshall called to ask Leonard the value of all the PR that Musk gets.  I asked Leonard for his thoughts on Tic Tac, the UPA news, the new AF group being formed to study it plus the new group formed by Avi Loeb to study all of this, the Galileo Project.  Leonard spent some time talking about Loeb, what this new push means for SETI, what may exist out there in terms of life and more.  It was a good discussion, don't miss it.  Also, it was supplemented with a call from Ft. Worth John, our sort of de facto resident expert on the subject.

Several times Leonard referred to Earth as a paranoid planet.  I figured out what he meant by that based on how he used the term but I never asked him to tell us what he meant by that term.  Let us know what you think he meant by calling our home planet a paranoid planet.  Post your suggestion on our blog.  Another topic came up was the popularity or dislike or both of Musk.  Leonard and I had some things to say about that over several minutes.

Other topics included Leonard sharing his thoughts with us on the first National Space Council meeting, on space settlement, China and space in 2022, the launching of the JWST, the launch industry with a shoutout to Rocket Labs and a few other companies he identified.  He also talked about cislunar space and warfare.  Your thoughts on this topic would also be appreciated.
