John Batchelor and I welcomed Dr. Allan Needell, Curator of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum Space Division, to discuss both the Apollo 11 command module graffiti which has been uncovered plus the museum's 3D Digitization Program. During our ten minute discussion, Dr. Needell talked about some of the scribbled messages on the walls of Columbia having been known before, but in the process of undertaking the 3D Digitization Program, other messages were recently discovered. Because nobody had been in the capsule for decades, they were forgotten and unseen. Dr. Needell did talk with Mike Collins and Buzz about the messages. Most were written by Mike Collins. Our guest went into detail about the 3D Digitization Program and what it will eventually mean for people not present in the museum.
