We welcomed back Frank White to discuss Overview Effect updates, President Kennedy and space given we are approaching the 50th anniversary of his death, and the impact of The Overview Effect on space policy. During the first segment of this 1 hour 31 minute program, our guest spoke about the new movie Gravity and how it relates to The Overview Effect. Frank provided us with a comprehensive overview of this movie which had both good and bad elements in it. He also talked about many of the film's reviews, even three reviews that focused on the film missing the boat re The Overview Effect. Frank applauded the film for conveying the concept that Earth was a fragile oasis, even a lifeboat of types but that Earth was not depicted in the film with imagery to portray an overview like effect with our home planet. Frank also talked about the characterization of the Sandra Bulloch character as typical Hollywood stereotyping. Frank mentioned the Overview Effect film on Vimeo - http://vimeo.com/55073825. He also talked about a YouTube film from their Harvard University presentation - www.youtube.com/watch?v=0X_fhLIPydE. Near the end of the first segment, Frank was asked about having interviewed suborbital tourists and others from the suborbital industry or if he focuses only on orbital space. In our second segment, with the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK coming up, Frank talked about his recent book, The New Camelot to show the relationship of Camelot and King Arthur to JFK and space. In our discussion, Frank detailed the connection he made to understand and then explain these relationships. Later in the segment, a listener asked if Mr. White knew of any leaders of any nation that applied Overview Effect leadership anyplace in the world. The answer was no but we talked about ides for virtual political leadership space summits and even an Overview Effect training program for would be federal election candidates. Near the end of the program, Joe in Billings, MT mentioned the fact that at the Rocky Mtn College astronaut panels I chaired earlier this year in Billings, the three astronauts were not familiar with The Overview Effect and said they did not experience it. Frank had much to say about this response and some of his interviews, especially around the use of the word spiritual. In his concluding comments, Frank urged us to never give up on our ideas or getting them transmitted through society.
