The Space Foundation Conference

Robert Zimmerman returned to The Space Show for this program to give us several important updates as well as new information. Mr. Zimmerman updated us on space as a possible campaign issues for this year's presidential election and like he has said before, there is still no indication it will be an issue. We also talked about the X-Prize and both the American and Canadian contestants, the Hubble Space Telescope rescue mission and Nasa, and the level of progress being made toward implementing the recommendations of the Aldridge Committee. Regarding the Hubble, Mr. Zimmerman talked about the lack of another optic telescope to replace it and when I asked him about high quality of today's Earth-based telescopes, he provided listeners with a superb explanation of adaptive optics and why Earth-based scopes are not equal to Hubble. As we found out, the SPIN stopped right here on The Space Show with Robert Zimmerman providing us with the facts on this important issue and why we are being "spinned" to believe that our new telescopes on Earth can equal what Hubble is able to do. Bob Zimmerman talked about science, was asked by a listener why so many science programs on radio and TV don't include space information. He provided an interesting answer to this question and he also told us about his upcoming new TV series on the Science Channel regarding the 100 greatest scientific discoveries of our time. Robert Zimmerman provided Space Show listeners with much more information on space, our efforts to become space-faring and to develop space commerce, and the politics and history behind space development, including an analysis of the space program during the Viet Nam war, JFK, and comparisons to today. You won't want to miss this program. Bob returns for a special Genesis holiday program and update on November 30 this year.
