We welcomed back to the show Dr. Jim Wertz to go through his commercial lunar development and settlement plan. Be sure to be familiar with his three PPT presentations which have been uploaded to our blog and explain his program.  These three presentations formed the framework for our discussion and Jim's lunar development plans.  As with other program summaries, the key words do a good job of summarizing the many topics discussed with the listeners so I suggest you familiarize yourself with them.  Here they are repeated in this summary.

Tags/Key Words:  Dr. Jim Wertz, Microcosm, designing a lunar settlement, O'Neill lunar settlement, no cylinders used, surface development, lunar gravity, He3, commercial development, affordable project, children and a lunar settlement, short interval lunar stay for children, real estate developer, lunar space burial, regulatory concerns, lunar property rights, naysayer space development movement, three uploaded power points by Dr. Wertz, implementing the lunar development plan, available technology, needed new technology, private vs. government, lunar settlement cash flow.

Listeners engaged with Dr. Wertz in many different areas. One was spaceflight inhabitant's long duration health with microgravity, radiation risks beyond LEO plus some other problems that have recently come to the attention of the industry.  Coupled with this was the question of reproduction and children as part of the Wertz lunar settlement idea.  Listen to what Jim said when asked about it .

Another key discussion point entertained on this program was the cost of the project, who pays, and how does one get the funding for what Jim was saying was inevitable.  Listen to Jim's ideas and what listeners had to say.  Jim saw the lunar settlement as a positive cash flow being able to make money from the early start of the project.  What do you think?  He also thought part of the settlement would be devoted to tourism which would be a profit center but so would He3 mining/processing.  While he told one listener this would not be a rotating cylinder on the Moon as in an O'Neil station, he wanted to show respect for Dr. O'Neill, hence the term.  But make no mistake, Jim was and is talking about a surface lunar settlement.  Jim did stress over and over that he was talking about a commercial project putting out a return on investment (ROI).  In addition, our guest said this project could start now but with small steps. He saw incremental development and financing.

Dr. Wertz is seeking feedback and interest int his project.  He proved his email address at the end of the show which is  jwertz AT Smad  dot  com.  He wants to hear from you with your interest and ideas.  Please post comments and questions for Dr. Wertz on our blog for this show.
