Guest: Kris Kimel. Topics: Kentucky Space innovative space programs. Kris Kimel returned to update Space Show listeners on new Kentucky Space programs and projects. For more information, visit www.kentuckyspace.com. In our first segment, Mr. Kimel told us about the Kentucky Space cubesat program with Professor Bob Twiggs. We also learned about the approaching suborbital launch on Feb. 24 and the upcoming Glory Mission with a Kentucky Space satellite launch to orbit out of Vandenberg later this year.

Guest: Mark Hempsell. Topics: Reaction Engines, Ltd., SKYLON, special heat exchangers, low cost space access. We welcomed first time guest Mark Hempsell. Mark is the Futures Program Director for Reaction Engines, Ltd. in the UK. I suggest you follow along on their website with this interview at http://www.reactionengines.co.uk . In the first segment, Mark started out by referencing previous efforts by Reaction Engines, Ltd. with the HOTOL space shuttle project that was cancelled by the British government.

Julie Jiru and Vicki Ann Belleau were with us on today's Space Show program as they were part of the first ever class for the newly formed Space & Telecom Law Center with the University of Nebraska Law School in Lincoln, NE. Julie and Vicki talked about the program, its focus, classes offered, leading professors and guest speakers, plus conferences that they attended as part of their program.

Jeff Krukin was our guest today to tell us about his new monograph, "NEWSPACE NATION: America's Emerging Entrepreneurial Space Industry." Jeff explained how and why he wrote this monogram and we discussed different segments of the Newspace industry referred to as industry clusters.

Guests: Charles Pooley and Iain Finer. Topic 2009 Space Access Society Conference, rockets, suborbital and orbital flight, space tourism. This program consists of three separate reporting segments from Charles and Iain who were at Space Access in Phoenix, AZ . They kindly phoned in three reports to The Space Show. Charles and Iain talked about the speakers and comments, mostly from what caught their attention and interest, but also from an overall perspective of the conference this year.

Guest: Dr. Petra Illig. Topics: aerospace medicine, passenger health and safety, FAA, spaceflight participants, and pre-existing medical conditions. Dr. Petra Illig was our guest today to discuss with us aviation and personal spaceflight medicine from the perspective of the spaceflight participant. Our discussion started out by asking Dr. Illig to extrapolate from her body of work on aviation passenger health to the health factors concerning the spaceflight participant.

Guest: Dr. Paul Dear. Topics: N-Prize, RACOON/BALLOON LAUNCH, orbital satellite, AST, ITAR. Dr. Paul Dear returned to The Space Show to update us about new developments with the N-Prize (see http://www.n-prize.com for more details). We also went over the rules and several distinctions were made as well as clarifications pertaining to what is and is not an N-prize expense. Several N-prize team members called the show to discuss their entries as well as how they are complying with federal regulations pertaining to launching an orbital rocket.

Guest: Henry Vanderbilt followed by Open Lines. Topics: Space Access Society Conference, low cost space access, SUSTAIN, suborbital and orbital space transportation. Henry Vanderbilt, founder of The Space Access Conference, was the guest for the first ninety minutes of today's program followed by Open Lines for the last half hour. Henry discussed the origins of The Space Access Conference up to its current status. He told us who the speakers were to-date for this year's conference and said there was still time to contact him to be a presenter at the conference.
