We welcomed James Burk back to the show, this time as the new Executive Director of The Mars Society.  We spent several minutes talking in general about The Mars Society, goals, plans and the founder, Dr. Robert Zubrin.  James then offered us a short history review of The Mars Society up to today with events that will be both live and containing a virtual component.  The first topic mentioned was the plan for The Mars Society to go for more educational outreach programs for younger students.  James explained this strategy in detail so don't miss it.

Regarding a short summary of the balance of the program, once again I will simply repeat the tags and key words as they do a good job of putting our discussion in the context and order it unfolded.

Tags:  "James Burk, The Mars Society, Dr. Robert Zubrin, Mars educational outreach, Mars Society 2022 and 2023 programming, college level virtual engineering program for younger students, competition, awards, tuition, Mars Society Robotic Competition in June 2022, landers, food supply for Mars, gravity RX, Phobos first idea, anti-Mars sentiment, Mars Society Conference, Heavy Lift, Mars propulsion challenges, Martian soil toxicity, Mars radiation, solvable problems and challenges, Mars Society Annual Conference Keynote Speakers, MarsVR, University Rover Challenge, MDRS in Utah, life on Mars, FAA and Starship, Boca launch site for Starship, Mars Society to inspire people, increase awareness of trends supporting Mars, controlling the discussion."

Among the many topics, we spent lots of time on the MarsVR project with its own website, https://marsvr.com.  There is a version of the program on the website one can access without special equipment or computers.  If you access it, please post your comments on our blog.  John Hunt provided some interesting commentary with a skeptical nature to some of the conclusions and assumptions our guest was making about humans both going to and living on Mars. Comments anyone?  In addition, we spent time talking about both the upcoming Mars Society Conference later in the year at Arizona State but also James and other Mars Society volunteers presenting and being part of a huge Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas later in the summer, including Bob Zubrin.  I talked about my going to both events.  As for the other topics referenced in the tags, while we did discuss them, we did not zero in on them as we did with a few of the topics.

Please post your comments/questions on TSS blog for this show.  You can reach Mr. Burk through me or The Mars Society.
