The Space Show Asks For Your Support

Dec. 23, 2021

The Space Show wishes all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.  We also wish all a very healthy, safe and prosperous 2022.

You probably already know this but not all podcasts are the same.  Not by a long shot so let me tell you about The Space Show which for many of you believe is just another podcast.  To be precise, The Space Show is a live broadcast internet streamed radio talk show.  Unlike a typical podcast, our broadcast is LIVE.  Unlike a typical podcast, we have real time callers and listener emails.  Unlike a typical podcast, you can talk with our guests and other listeners, ask any question you want, even go into great detail with the guest.  Often you can talk with other callers and the guest.  You can send us a real time email, a real time blog comment and you can even send us advanced questions and commentary before the live broadcast using email or our blog.  Yes, The Space Show does archive and upload all programs as a podcast and it is available on most podcasting platforms.  Archives on The Space Show website are compressed mp3 archives.  Your calls, comments, questions, they are all part of the archived show as are sponsor messages and unedited guest presentations on the topic(s) of the day.  We have three analog land lines in our mix to make this possible.  We use broadcasting audio gear instead of telephones plus some of our gear is devoted to suppressing unwanted sounds on an analog phone line.  One more thing that I want you to know is that The space Show is featured as #7 in the top 20 space exploration podcasts by Feedspot (https://blog.feedspot.com/space_exploration_podcasts).  A special thanks to all the listeners, supporters and guests for making The Space Show a nationally rated podcast for space exploration programs.  For 2022, our goal is for us to be the number one podcast in this category.

You might ask why I am sharing this information with you.  I'm sharing it with you because as I said in my opening to this letter, not all podcasts are the same.  The Space Show is unique, and will be even more so in 2022.  Our uniqueness comes not just from our devotion to space, but also because of how we bring our audience into each program and guest discussion on a real time basis.  Our commitment is to continue this format because it engages our audience and our special guests get to directly be in touch with listeners who most often ask outstanding questions.  However, this format is costly, quickly disappearing and going by the wayside due to the costs and the equipment needed for live broadcasting with phone lines in the mix.  This is why, as a non-profit, The Space Show engages is fundraising throughout the year and especially during our annual campaign which is now in full swing through the end of 2021.

As we approach our 21st year, were you to listen to our archives from 2001 and later, you would hear us talking about many of the same topics we discuss today and will discuss in the coming year.  But you will notice a difference.  The players, the leaders, the technology, the forms of financing, the policy makers, geopolitics and more are very different today.  However, were you a steady Space Show listener during this time, you would absolutely be on the cutting edge of this evolution as that is the history The Space Show reports on with every guest and every program.  Those of you that called a show or sent in an email, you are part of that history and that archive.

So we ask you to help us out and financially support with your gift before the end of 2021.  Here are the easy ways to donate:

1. PayPal.  Please use the link at the top of our homepage, www.thespaceshow.com or the direct PayPal link, https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/thespaceshow.  If you use either of these Pay Pal links, your donation is free of fees and 100% of your gift goes to One Giant Leap Foundation/The Space Show.

2.  For U.S. donors, if your bank is part of the Zelle Quick Pay program, you can donate directly to our bank via Zelle.  One Giant Leap uses Chase Bank.  The email address to use is david@onegiantleapfoundation.org

3.  If you want to donate using a check, please make it payable to One Giant Leap Foundation and mail it to P.O. Box 95, Tiburon, CA.  94920.

4.  If you pay U.S. taxes, you get a tax deduction for your 501C3 gift.  Depending on your state, you might also get a state tax deduction but check with your tax advisor on this matter.

Won't you please take a few minutes and donate today to make sure The Space Show goes forward with strength in 2022 continuing the quality you have come to love and respect.  Together, let's make our 21st broadcasting year special.

Thank you very much for your continued support.  Once again, a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to each and every one of you, your families and friends.

All the best,

Dr. David Livingston
