John Batchelor and I welcomed back Bill Harwood of CBS Space News to discuss NASA and what it is doing with their centers, astronauts, launches, mission operations, and planned missions as a result of the spread of COVID19. Bill talked about Level 4 base closures and highly restricted Level 3 center reduced activities. We talked about launches that needed to go forward, SpaceX and their launches, plus we talked about keeping mission control going for existing planetary and space missions. Bill mentioned Mars 2020 with the Perseverance rover and a very narrow launch window less they have to launch two years from now. Other topics included quarantining the ISS crew before launch, the protocols in place in Russia to protect the launch, plus the protections for the ISS. This was a one segment ten minute Hotel Mars program.
