We welcomed back Jim Muncy for a comprehensive and detailed commercial space policy discussion over two hours in one segment.  Many topics and subjects were covered including a review of how well space policy has done so far in the Trump Administration, the National Space Council, an assessment of what has been accomplished and implemented to date plus many more issues.  Our guest spent considerable time throughout our discussion pointing out how so far the administration had actually been able to implement change and policy.  During our discussion, Mr. Muncy focused on NASA, the Air Force, DOD and then near the end of the program due to listener questions, he addressed policy in light of the Chine space program including their military approach to space.

Listeners had many questions about the launcher industry, geo sats, small sats, commercializing LEO, returning to the Moon with humans, cislunar development, plus bipartisanship in the US Congress with Trump space policy.  There were several callers to the show raising issues about SLS, Orion, The Gateway program, expendables, and reusable rockets.  Caller Marshall even proposed an interesting theory but listen and let us know what you think by posting your thoughts on our blog.  The Air Force and DOD plus national security reasons for SLS were discussed as was the impact on the European launch industry of the US commercial launch industry with reusability.   Commercial human spaceflight was brought up and Kim called from Mexico to discuss what she termed unpopular economic benefits from political space decisions. This was a most interesting discussion with Jim so be sure to listen to it.  Kim's detailed discussion was followed by a note from Anthony in Los Angeles asking about JWST and what it has done to NASA funding.  Jim had much to say in response to this email question.  Bob sent in an email asking for Jim's opinion on international space partnerships.  Once again Jim had strong opinions and much to say so don't miss his comments.

The topic of creating a US space force got a full discussion on this program, including Jim addressing Chinese space objectives both from the military and the leadership perspective.  Jim's China comments were very important so be sure to listen to them carefully.   Let us know what you think by posting your comments about China on our blog.  As we were approaching the end of our program, Jim was asked about X-37B.  Note what he said he thought it was doing.  He also mentioned that he had a part to play in the creation of X-37B when he was working in congress.

Upon ending our program, we asked Jim for concluding comments, plus issues we should focus on for the remainder of 2018 and the early part of 2019.  One last subject Jim told us about what the problem he had been addressing for a good part of the year regarding the commercial airline industry objecting to the increase in launches coming from the Cape as it has caused flight delays and schedule adjustments along the east coast and within the industry.  Jim talked about this issue in some detail.  He also mentioned a similar concern with the airline industry with spaceports, citing the newly designated Front Range Space Port near Denver International Airport.

Please post your comments/questions on TSS blog for this show.  Jim provided his email address on air near the end of the program and you can reach him through me.
