We welcomed Hannah Kerner to the program to discuss the upcoming NewSpace 2015 Conference in Silicon Valley at the Doubletree Inn, San Jose, CA, from July 16-18, 2015. For more information, the conference agenda, registration and contact information, visit https://newspace.spacefrontier.org. During our one hour discussion, we talked about Hannah deciding to work this summer for Planet Labs rather than Google and why. We then talked about the first day keynotes including Pete Worden who just retired as the director of NASA Ames and NASA Administrator Charles Boden who will be at the conference for his talk. We then took a look at some of the panel discussions planned for the conference as this year's NewSpace event consists of all panel discussions. While the conference agenda is filling up, Hannah did say there might still be room for panel speakers/participants so if one or two of the panels matches your expertise or area of interest and you would like to participate, send her or Curtis an email. You will find their email addresses on the conference contact page which is https://newspace.spacefrontier.org/contact. We also talked conference logistics, registration, hotel availability, and airport transportation from San Francisco airports to the conference hotel in San Jose. A listener asked about family and tourist activities in and around San Jose in case he decided to bring his spouse and children with him. Thus, we talked tourist attractions for a few minutes. Hannah also went over the lunch, networking, evening and gala details and registration as they are separate from the conference registration. Near the end of our discussion, I asked Hannah for her favorite panels. She told us her two favorites were the alternative launch panel on the first day and the Saturday panel, "The Users and Futures of Low Earth Orbit." A listener asked about there being a business plan competition this year. Hannah said details would be announced soon and that it was being worked into the existing conference agenda. Listeners asked about the SFF annual Advocates meeting and Hannah gave us a teaser about several special announcements to be made at the conference including one that pertains to NewSpace 2016. Please post your comments/questions on TSS blog above. You can reach Hannah Kerner through the NewSpace Contact page or me at drspace@thespaceshow.com.
