This will help me bring better programming to the audience. Note that there was phone line noise on this program, especially with listeners calling in on cell phones on the toll free line. We welcomed Randa and Rod Milliron back to the program to discuss their successful March 29, 2014 Common Propulsion Module Test Vehicle launch plus updates on the overall Interorbital Systems (IOS) s progress. In our fist segment of this 91 minute program, we mainly talked about their recent launch which Randa and Rod took us through step by step. Lots of questions came in via email by listeners and later on by phone calls. Some of the questions focused on the PR given the John Frusicante’s (Red Hot Chili Peppers) album ENCLOSURE (The Record Collection, Malibu) payload which was incorrectly described by the non-space industry media. We also talked about IOS getting a Class 3 waiver for the launch & what that process involved. Rod took us through technical and design aspects for the rocket and we also talked about the larger Neptune Modular Rocket System that the company is developing for orbital spaceflight. Also of interest to listeners were the IOS TubeSat and CubeSat do it yourself kits which include a launch when the kit is completed. As we learned, IOS is rapidly filling up their third planned launch for these kits. Another point of interest was their upcoming launch for this summer which will be a guided launch for the first time. Both Randa and Rod talked about being vertically integrated and making and doing all the parts and engineering in house. One email listener asked for their plans to go suborbital and then orbital. Another listener inquired about the do it yourself satellite kits pricing & ease of building. Before the segment ended, we talked about the IOS plans for ocean launch. Neb called in from Bosnia to talk about the IOS success throughout Europe and the positive impact of the musical payload. In the second segment, we talked about IOS ITAR requirements, the number of payloads per rocket, the ongoing plans for a lunar mission, nuclear propulsion, and their guidance system. Neb call again from Bosnia to talk about how IOS was inspiring people around the world. Randa gave us an update on the plans for Olav Zipser to skydive from a rocket, then Doug emailed in to inquire about how the diameter of the common propulsion module was determined. Randa & Rod also talked about their future plans for visiting Venus. Don't miss this discussion. Please post your comments/questions on TSS blog above.
