We welcomed back Chris Carberry to this special one hour program to discuss the recently concluded Explore Mars Workshop, "Affording Mars" that was held in early December 2013. Chris explained the purpose of the workshop and we talked about the conclusions and the plans to move forward and build upon the success of this program. To learn more about this workshop, visit www.exploremars.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Affording-Human-Explorat…. Listeners asked questions about defining affordability, advanced propulsion for Mars, the use of SLS, and if Inspiration Mars and Mars One contributed to their efforts. You might be surprised by his answer to this last question. At the midway point, we switched to other programs in play for Explore Mars, Inc. Visit their website for information on the programs we discussed plus other information on this organization, www.exploremars.org. In particular we talked about the upcoming legislative blitz in Washington, DC plus the April main conference, Humans 2 Mars Summit 2014. While the conference will be in Washington, DC, it will be live streamed and we can all watch it wherever we are around the world. One of my questions to Chris was how in a very short time, four years, he has built and made Explore Mars one of the most credible advocacy organizations and policy influencing organizations. I also commented on the quality of their programming, attendees, speakers, all of it. Chris did provide an explanation for this which I think all of us could benefit from. Listen to how he said they communicate and work with others, even those opposed to Mars. As I said, we could all learn from the Explore Mars playbook. We also talked about robotic, science and human missions and how all are needed working together. Chris also talked plausible timelines for HSF to Mars. Post your comments/questions on TSS blog. You can reach Chris though the Explore Mars website.
