The Space Foundation Conference

Broadcast 1175 (Special Edition)

Guest: Open Lines. Topics: North Korea, Iran & SCUD Missiles, private space contractors, Flagships, return to the Moon, Kool Aid. Tonight was an Open Lines discussion covering several topics with listeners both through email and phone calls. I outlined some topics for possible discussion including what constitutes Kool Aid in the space world (based on an experience I had via email with a friend earlier in the day), the Augustine Panel presentations coming up, Direct 3.0, a possible new focus for NASA which included developing low cost space access for civil use, and more.

Broadcast 1084 (Special Edition)

Guest: Martin Schwab was the guest for this Space Show program which discussed space development and usage from a political science perspective. Topics included planetary defense, space in Hawaii, finding and cataloging NEOs and the statistical probability of one hitting the Earth. We discussed the NEO impact scenario from a policy and political science perspective, that is, public funding for something that has a low statistical chance of taking place anytime soon. This was an interesting discussion that you will want to hear.

Broadcast 929 (Special Edition)

Guest: Dr. Donald Rapp was the guest for this Friday Space Show program. Dr. Rapp authored two new books, both of which were discussed on this program. During the first three-quarters of the show, we discussed his book, "Human Missions To Mars," and what it will take for humans to go to Mars. For the remaining part of the program, we discussed his book, "Assessing Climate Change," and here we facilitated an important discussion about the science behind climate change and global warming. Some listeners may find this to be a controversial show regarding both topics, so please be advised.

Broadcast 899 (Special Edition)

Guest: Dr. Jeff Bell returned to the Space Show for a two hour controversial discussion on many important topics. This is a program you will not want to miss. For example, did you know that we might soon see the cancellation of the human spaceflight program? Listen and see if you agree with Dr. Bell and his analysis. We also talked about the much needed human factors research which is not being done as well as other problems with NASA along with its focus on the VSE/Aries 1. Dr.

Broadcast 898 (Special Edition)

Guest: David Hook. David Hook was the guest for this special program in order to discuss the unusual topic of security regulations for space tourism. As President of his company, Planehook Aviation Services in San Antonio, Texas, David specializes in security work for general aviation, but he has quietly expanded this interest to space tourism. During the first segment of the program, David referenced the FAA/AST regulations dealing with security issues and told us what they mean and how they are likely to be interpreted and applied.

Broadcast 897 (Special Edition)

Guest: Don Beattie. Don Beattie returned to The Space Show in order to continue our discussion about the current Vision for Space Exploration, NASA, and our future in space. Don started us off with a bit of NASA lunar history and then took us forward to three planned NASA lunar missions, GRAIL which is to use twin satellites to study the Moon's gravitational pull, another program to measure factors within the lunar atmosphere, and yet a third program to do penetration experiments of the Moon itself. Mr.

Broadcast 629 (Special Edition)

Mark Williamson was the guest for this Space Show program. Mr. Williamson began the interview by talking about his new book published by AIAA, "Space: The Fragile Frontier," why he wrote it and why he had an interest in the subject of Earth orbital debris in conjunction with planetary protection, space law, ethics and a workable balance with space development and space environmental protection.
