In segment one, Dr. Rowe introduced us to the issue of kidney risk. While some of what you hear may be a bit of a medical and technical discussion, make sure you listen carefully to what Dr. Rowe tells us.

Broadcast 1247 (Special Edition)

Guest: Dr. Arlin Crotts. Topics: water on the Moon, liquid mirror telescopes, space exploration, NASA budget. Dr. Arlin Crotts was our guest for this show regarding his work on water on the Moon. Please read his Oct. 12, 2009 Space Review article, "Water on the Moon," www.thespacereview.com/article//1485/1. Our first segment started with a detailed and most interesting discussion on liquid mirror telescopes. We then switched to the main topic for the program, water on the Moon. Dr.

Guest: Dr. Paul Spudis. Topics: Return to the Moon, VSE Mission Statement, lunar science, NASA, Mars, U.S. public and space exploration. Dr. Paul Spudis returned for this special two hour program to discuss why we should return to the Moon. In Segment 1, Dr. Spudis talked about the Moon as a transitioning resource and our training ground for how we can learn to live and settle in space. He said that the way the VSE has evolved, its gotten away from the true mission of our return to the Moon. This is a discussion that you must hear and its repeated throughout this two hour show.

Broadcast 1059 (Special Edition)

Guest: Dr. Barrett Caldwell was the guest for this special Space Show program. We started our discussion by asking him about Space Grant Indiana and the national NASA space grant program, such as the projects and scholarships that Space Grant funds. This is a very informative discussion and it is applicable to Space Grant in other states as well though we did discuss specific Indiana programs. Clearly, there are advantages for students to associate with a Space Grant program, listen and you will understand why I say this.

Broadcast 1001 (Special Edition)

Guest: Manny Pimenta returned to The Space Show to discuss Lunar Explorer, his interactive global model of the Moon which is available for home PCs. This software is an interactive, virtual reality program detailing the features on the surface of the Moon. We talked about how the software was made using the Clementine data and what one can do with the software to simulate being and working on the Moon and even on a lunar outpost/settlement.

Broadcast 982 (Special Edition)

Guest: Dr. Jim Logan was the guest for this Space Show program. Dr. Logan kicked off the discussion with a reality check of the body of evidence that we have accumulated during the 47 years of human space flight. He talked about two major potential showstoppers, micro/hypo gravity and radiation. As we discussed during the show, we know quite a bit about these two areas, but we do not yet have a solution for the problems they create for long-term human spaceflight or settlement. Dr.
