The first interview of this program is with Amitsur Rosenfeld, Managing Director of MicroSat Israel. Amitsur has attended the past four Responsive Space Conferences and provides us with his perspective on how responsive space is progressing. In addition, he details what the Israeli space development programs do regarding responsive space, their responsive small satellites and more.

Dr. Chris McKay was the guest for this show which started out by discussing the NASA Mars program today. As Dr. McKay said, the program is in trouble and you will want to hear why he said this. Also, pay attention to the competition Mars now receives for searching for life from the moons of Saturn. What this means for Mars programs in a competitive funding environment is up in the air.

Guest: Dr. Stein Cass. Topics: Surrey Satellite, NPOESS, Earth science, risk management, economics, socialism. Dr. Stein Cass from Surrey Satellite Technology-US was our guest for this program. We started our discussion with The National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) and how its cost overruns by the government have drained funds from other much needed Earth science projects. This is an eye-opening discussion that you will not want to miss.

Guest: Dr. Paul Dear. Topics: N-Prize, RACOON/BALLOON LAUNCH, orbital satellite, AST, ITAR. Dr. Paul Dear returned to The Space Show to update us about new developments with the N-Prize (see http://www.n-prize.com for more details). We also went over the rules and several distinctions were made as well as clarifications pertaining to what is and is not an N-prize expense. Several N-prize team members called the show to discuss their entries as well as how they are complying with federal regulations pertaining to launching an orbital rocket.

Guest: Dr. Jordin Kare. Topics: Laser launch, power beaming, space elevator, laser weapons, Mockingbird. Dr. Kare returned to The Space Show for updates with laser launch systems and more. We learned about the beam module approach and his work to win the NASA Climber Challenge through his company LaserMotive (www.lasermotive.com). We also discussed heat exchanger propulsion and the use of different materials for the exchanger such as Silicon Carbide. As a result of listener questions, we discussed the laser for use with the space elevator and Dr.

However, we started off by announcing the Obama choice for NASA Administrator, Retired AF Major General Scott Gration. Taylor spent most of the first segment discussing General Gration and what this might mean for NASA and various NASA programs including COTS.

Guest: Jim Muncy returned for this Space Show program to discuss space policy in 2008 and its transition to 2009. We talked about the current Administrator Dr. Griffin and his efforts to remain at NASA plus what this would mean for continuing with the VSE and Aries as planned. Jim also mentioned some important public sector 2008 milestones, including the Zero G contract, the recent Cargo Resupply Services Contract, and improvements in DOD and Space Command.

Guest: David Hook was our guest for this Space Show program bringing us up to speed on the TSA's proposed rule changes for aircraft weighing in excess of 12,500 lbs.
