Guest: Open Lines with Dr. David Livingston. Topics: Media interviews and privacy, NASA, Ares 1 and pork, Iran, How to be a guest on The Space Show. This two hour program was an Open Lines program divided into three segments. During the first segment, I covered a few topics and issues that I thought needed airing and discussing. Guest: Open Lines. Topics: North Korea, Iran & SCUD Missiles, private space contractors, Flagships, return to the Moon, Kool Aid. Tonight was an Open Lines discussion covering several topics with listeners both through email and phone calls. I outlined some topics for possible discussion including what constitutes Kool Aid in the space world (based on an experience I had via email with a friend earlier in the day), the Augustine Panel presentations coming up, Direct 3.0, a possible new focus for NASA which included developing low cost space access for civil use, and more.

Guest: Professor Ram Jakhu. Topics: National and international space law, space debris, space tourism, civil space, military space, SSP. Professor Ram Jakhu, Associate Professor at the Institute of Air and Space Law at McGill University in Montreal, Canada was our guest today. We began our discussion by addressing the space debris issue and the recent International Interdisciplinary Congress on Space Debris held at McGill University in Montreal from May 7-9, 2009.

Guest: Robert Zimmerman. Topics: NASA Administrator, Ares, Orion, Constellation, ISS, space policy, bats, suborbital tourism, Hubble. Bob Zimmerman returned to the Space Show for this program, leading off with a discussion about the significance of the absence of a NASA Administrator. Bob explained some of the problems this creates for our space program, especially long term as we are nearing critical decision points in several of our civil space programs. You will want to hear his comments on this subject. In addition, he had no suggestion or ideas as to the next Administrator.

Guest: Dr. Frans G. von der Dunk. Topics: space & telecom law programs, space tourism, NEO's, ITAR, space debris. First, I apologize for my rough and raspy voice as I am still recovering my cold, coughing, and virus whatever. Thanks for your patience and tolerance. Our guest tonight, Dr. Frans von der Dunk, started our discussion by describing the new University of Nebraska - Lincoln LL.M Space and Telecommunication Law program (please see http://law.uni.edu/spacelaw).

Guest: Dr. Eligar Sadeh. Topics: Contested Space Domain, space weaponization, Iran, nuclear missiles, China and the ISS, treaties, space advocacy, military space, Israel. PLEASE NOTE THAT DR. DO NOT ASSUME THESE OPINIONS APPLY TO THE SPACE SHOW, THE HOST, OR ANYONE ELSE. Dr. Eligar Sadeh spoke with us about U.S. space policy in the context of contested space and cooperative space.

Guests: Brian Weeden and Ben Baseley-Walker. Topics: Secure World Foundation, space situational awareness, space weaponization & militarization, satellite defense. Brian Weeden and Ben Baseley-Walker of the Secure World Foundation presented solid information and strategies for addressing problems around space traffic management and space situational awareness. Our guests were very realistic about the topics discusse. Not only did we talk about space policy and how policy is created, we talked about space weaponization and ways to avoid it, such as the distributive satellite defense.

Guest: Brian Hanley was our guest for this off-topic Space Show program, which addressed the issue of terrorism. We began the discussion by asking Mr. Hanley for a working definition of terrorism why it was defined as asymmetrical warfare and violence for political ends against non-government targets. We talked extensively about Russia, what is in its national interest with regards to supporting or not supporting terrorism. In fact, we discussed actions the U.S. has taken and takes in its own national interest that sometimes run afoul of our stated anti-terrorism policy.

Guest: General James B. Armor, USAF (Ret) was the guest for this program. General Armor discussed his policy recommendation that now is the time to create a special Space Corps within the Air Force. This position is explained in detail in Astropolitics, Volume 5, Issue 3, September 2007, pages 273-288, in his article entitled "It is Time to Create a United States Air Force Space Corps."
