The Space Foundation Conference

Laura Delgado Lopez is a Project Manager for Secure World Foundation. In this role she assists and manages the overall planning, direction, administration and coordination of project activities and goals. She brings advanced communication skills and experience in space policy research and writing. Prior to joining the Foundation, Ms. Delgado López was the Earth Observations Associate at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies, a Virginia-based nonprofit promoting science education and collaboration in Earth observations. In this role, she advanced the development of strategies for key program initiatives, performed research, designed and developed web and print products, and led the planning and implementation of high-level stakeholder meetings, as well as NASA educational events with an international reach. Of note are her recent positions as a researcher and lead researcher with the Space Security Index and as a correspondent for SpacePolicyOnline.com since 2009. Her previous experiences include the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the National Academy of Sciences. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Astronautical Society (AAS). Ms. Delgado López’s research has focused in issues related to Earth observations, space politics and policy, international cooperation, space security and sustainability, and public opinion. Her work has been featured in publications such as Space Policy, Astropolitics, Space News, among others, and has led to media appearance as a space science and policy expert in major Spanish-speaking media outlets, including CNN en Español. Read Ms. Delgado López’s publications now. Ms. Delgado López holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) in international science and technology with a focus on space policy from the George Washington University. She was a 2009 Truman Scholar and a Northrop Grumman Fellow (2009-2010) at GWU’s Space Policy Institute. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in political science from the University of Puerto Rico.
