Broadcast 1052 (Special Edition)

Guests: Dr. James Cartreine, Dr. Jay Buckey, and Dr. Raphael Rose were the guests for this special Space Show program focusing on the NSBRI "Self-Guided Depression Treatment on Long-Duration Spaceflights." We began this discussion with our guests explaining the purpose and mechanics of the Self-Guided Depression Treatment computer program for use by the astronauts. Along with listener questions, we went into detail about this self-help program which will complete testing and studies by mid-2009 and then be put into service by the space program and possibly into general public distribution.

Broadcast 876 (Special Edition)

Guest: Dr. Jay Buckey. Dr. Jay Buckey returned to The Space Show for a most interesting discussion about politics, space, and human factors affecting long-duration spaceflight. Since Dr. Buckey is running for the U.S. Senate from New Hampshire, I asked him about running on a space ticket, using space as a campaign tool, and using his former astronaut status to aid him in his campaign. You will want to hear his reply about these questions . We also talked about space issues in the recently concluded New Hampshire presidential primary.

Broadcast 666 (Special Edition)

Dr. Jay Buckey was the guest for this Space Show program, discussing space medicine issues and some insights into NASA psychological issues given the current news events with a NASA astronaut. We opened the program with the discussion psychological screening, could it be done more effectively and more routinely, especially given the fact we learned such screening or analysis is only given an astronaut when the candidate is selecting into the program. This is a discussion you will want to hear.
