The Space Foundation Conference

David W. Brandt is the program chair for the Space 2006 conference to be held in San Jose, Calif., Sept. 19-21, 2006, organized by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Lockheed Martin is co-chairing the event with NASA Ames Research Center and the U.S. Air Force Space & Missile Systems Center. A business development manager for Lockheed Martin, Brandt is based in the corporation’s Washington Operations organization. His responsibilities include managing Lockheed Martin’s Space Exploration Vision Center in Arlington, Va. Since joining Lockheed Martin in 1999, he has held positions in Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company’s Skunk Works and Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company. Previously, Brandt was: a member of the AIAA staff; the executive director of the National Space Society; and the press office manager for the John Glenn Presidential Campaign, followed by serving in the same capacity for the Federal Election Commission. He also has been a social studies teacher in the District of Columbia. Brandt has extensive knowledge of U.S. and international civil and commercial space programs, as well as of legislative and executive-level processes. He has organized an international Space Policy Summit involving government space agencies and ministries and industrial partners and led a variety of advocacy programs to broaden public interest in space activities. He has appeared on television and radio talk shows and news segments and has served as master of ceremonies and panel moderator at various events. Brandt holds a B.A. degree from Kent State University and has attended the Master’s Certification Program at the University of Maryland.

Joining The Space Show for this discussion, we welcome Dr. Daniel Rasky, David Brandt, and Dr. Klaus Dannenberg. Space 2006 is titled "The Value Proposition For Space Security, Discovery, and Prosperity" and during this show we went through all aspects of this conference and AIAA.
