CHRISTOPHER STONE is Senior Fellow for Space Studies for the Mitchell Institute’s Spacepower Advantage Research Center (MI-SPARC).

BACKGROUND: Prior to joining Mitchell, Stone served as a strategic consultant supporting the Office of Secretary of Defense, and he was a Presidential appointee in the Office of Secretary of Defense's Space Policy office. Stone has served on the staffs of two United States Senators, as well as over a decade serving as a senior space policy analyst for two Secretaries of the Air Force; Chief of Staff of the Space Division at Air Force International Affairs, and Chief of Strategy for the National Guard Bureau's Space Operations

Directorate, Pentagon. He has served as a space operations officer in the Air Force (Regular, Reserve and now National Guard) for over 17 years at tactical, operational, and strategic levels to include two Combatant Commands, Joint Staff, and Air Staff strategy and campaign planner positions.

AREAS OF FOCUS: As Senior Fellow for Space Studies for MISPARC, Stone conducts extensive research on spacepower strategies and policies with a focus on deterrence and warfighting options as well as other issues such as, great power competition, organizational structures, and doctrines necessary for effective space forces. ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL TITLES: Stone received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri, with a dual concentration in American and Russian History; his master’s degrees include a M.S. in Defense and Strategic Studies from Missouri State University; Masters of Military

Operational Arts and Science from Air Command and Staff College; and a Master of Philosophy in Military Strategy from the Air Force's School of Advanced Air and Space Studies at Air University. He is a Professorof Space Strategy at Missouri State University's Graduate Department of Defense and Strategic Studies in Fairfax, VA. He is the author of two books on space deterrence and has published in Comparative.
