Global Warming

Guest: Open Lines. Topics: Due diligence, science peer review, individual accountability. Today's program was a two hour Open Lines program with each segment running about an hour. As the themes were the same throughout the discussion, I've not broken this description down by segment. We started the program with my brief comments reminding listeners that extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. My comments were largely directed at recent SSP claims made to me in emails as well on the show, plus a few books I have previewed for authors.

Guest: Robert Zimmerman. Topics: Lunar water, Augustine Commission, space policy, climate change and sunspots. Robert Zimmerman returned to The Space Show as our guest for this program. We started the first segment with questions for Robert regarding the recently announced lunar water, Indian Space Agency (ISRO) and MIP reports of lunar water, the IndiaDaily.com article and how all this might impact U.S. space policy in light of the Augustine Commission report.

Guest: Dr. Harrison Schmitt. Topics: Climate control, CO2, realists vs. modelers, Returning to the Moon. Dr. Harrison Schmitt recently attended The Heartland Institute's 2009 International Conference on Climate Change held in New York from March 8-10 (See http://www.heartland.org/ for more information) and he was on today's Space Show to talk with us about climate change and anthropogenic global warming. Our discussion was far-reaching, scientific, and factual. Listeners asked lots of questions and several callers engaged Dr.

Guests: Leonard David was the guest for three segments of our program, followed by Barbara David joining us for the last segment. We did much forward-looking during this show given the changes taking place in government, the economy, and the space community. We talked about the incoming administration and what it might mean for space, the Space Coast of Florida, and its commitment to human space flight, the economy, viewing the Space Shuttle, and much more. Leonard reported on the recent Lunar Lander Challenge and Armadillo Aerospace at the X-Prize in Las Cruces, NM.

Guest: Dr. Sam Dinkin was the guest for this Space Show program. We started our Q&A with Sam with an update on his start-up, Space Shot. Here, Sam took us through the game, its current status, and then, in response to a listener question, he did a "lessons learned" from starting this business. This is a must hear discussion and is applicable to more than just Space Shot. We also talked about space in the future. Sam mentioned that, in his opinion, we would likely develop the oceans first, including aquaculture and then develop habitable aerostats.

Guest: Dr. Donald Rapp was the guest for this Space Show program to discuss his book, "Assessing Climate Change: Temperatures, Solar Radiation, and Heat Balance." This was a factual discussion of Earth's climate, climate change history over time, the Little Ice Age as a baseline, the hockey stick graph, and much more. Dr. Rapp takes a hard look at the climate talk and you will not want to miss what he has to say. He then defines the real problem as one of having sufficient energy for Americans and the world in the future.

Guest: Dr. Dennis Bushnell, Chief Scientist at NASA Langley Research Center, was the guest for today's program. We began our discussion talking about the advancements in revolutionary technology needed for a manned mission to Mars. Dr. Bushnell has a published paper on this subject, titled "Advanced-to-Revolutionary Technology Options for Humans-Mars," which I will send as a Word document if you email me and request it. Based on this paper and the first part of our discussion, Dr.

Guest: Dr. Donald Rapp was the guest for this Friday Space Show program. Dr. Rapp authored two new books, both of which were discussed on this program. During the first three-quarters of the show, we discussed his book, "Human Missions To Mars," and what it will take for humans to go to Mars. For the remaining part of the program, we discussed his book, "Assessing Climate Change," and here we facilitated an important discussion about the science behind climate change and global warming. Some listeners may find this to be a controversial show regarding both topics, so please be advised.

Guest: Dr. Ethan Siegel was the guest for this Space Show program. Dr. Siegel is an astrophysicist at the University of Arizona and thus was highly qualified for the cosmological discussion which made up most of this program. We began our discussion with good working definitions for both cosmology and astrophysics.
