Guest: Peter Smith. Topics: The search for life on Mars and Mars science missions. Please note that you are invited to comment, ask questions, and rate this program on the new Space Show blog, http://thespaceshow.wordpress.com. We welcomed to the show Dr. Peter Smith from the Lunar and Planetary Lab at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Dr. Smith was with us for one full hour, then we took a short break and returned for a few minutes in which I outlined future Space Show programming. Our discussion with Dr.
Guest: Irene Schneider returned to The Space Show for this program to discuss the Phoenix Lander on Mars, radiation, and Martian astrobiology including the search for present and/or past microbial life on Mars. Our discussion with Irene covered many topics as we took a close look at the ongoing search for microbial life on Mars, how it is being carried out, and what the chances are for finding such life on Mars. We talked about the harsh environment and noted that even here on Earth life can exist in extremes, even in high radiation, so why not on Mars?
Guest: Scott Cassell was the guest for this Space Show program exploring the relationship and synergy of our oceans with space. Our discussion with Scott started off by focusing on the Humboldt Squid, which is as much a foreign life form to humans as anything that may be encountered on or off this planet. You must hear Scott describe this mollusk in detail, including its behavior, characteristics, appearance, and its unusual proliferation across oceans into areas where it previously never used to be found.
