Among the many topics discussed on the show, we talked about his new book, "Mars 3-D: A Rover's-Eye View of the Red Planet" which is widely available and offers unique 3 D views of the Martian planet. Dr. Bell spoke also about one of his earlier books, "Postcards from Mars." We talked about the Mars rovers Spirit and Opportunity as he has been part of the rover team since the start, the Phoenix Lander, and Mars Express. Guest: Martin Schwab was the guest for this Space Show program which discussed space development and usage from a political science perspective. Topics included planetary defense, space in Hawaii, finding and cataloging NEOs and the statistical probability of one hitting the Earth. We discussed the NEO impact scenario from a policy and political science perspective, that is, public funding for something that has a low statistical chance of taking place anytime soon. This was an interesting discussion that you will want to hear.

Guest: Dr. Ben Bova was the guest for this Space Show program to discuss his new book, "Mars Life." Our discussion went in and out regarding "Mars Life," politicians and the importance of space, political leadership, how politicians view science fiction writers, and much more. We talked a lot about the need for political leadership and the comprehensive understanding of why space is so important and what its potential benefits are and what they mean for us all. We also talked in-depth about space solar power and as you will hear, I put the economic questions to Dr.

Guests: Leonard David was the guest for three segments of our program, followed by Barbara David joining us for the last segment. We did much forward-looking during this show given the changes taking place in government, the economy, and the space community. We talked about the incoming administration and what it might mean for space, the Space Coast of Florida, and its commitment to human space flight, the economy, viewing the Space Shuttle, and much more. Leonard reported on the recent Lunar Lander Challenge and Armadillo Aerospace at the X-Prize in Las Cruces, NM.

Guest: Paul Breed of Unreasonable Rockets was the guest for this Space Show program. Please visit his blog http://unreasonablerocket.blogspot.com/ for more information. We started our discussion with Paul talking about the history of Unreasonable Rocket as to how he started it, how he got his son interested in working with him building rockets, and even why he named the company as he did. We also talked about his efforts to compete in the Lunar Lander Challenge over the years up to the current year and why he did not enter this year.

Guest: Dr. Michael Brooks, author of "13 Things That Don't Make Sense: The Most Baffling Scientific Mysteries Of Our Time," was the guest for this Space Show program. We started our discussion with Dr. Brooks regarding the things he talks about in his book, focusing in on dark matter, the placebo effect, the WOW signal, cold fusion, Pioneer 1 & 2, Viking, homeopathy, and free will. Listeners asked many questions about these issues and we explored each of them in some detail.

Guest: Winston E. Scott (Capt. USN Ret.), former NASA Astronaut, returned for this Space Show program to discuss his "Win An Afternoon with Winston E. Scott, The Astronaut" contest. When a school buys his book, "Reflections From Earth Orbit", they enter the contest to win Capt. Scott for an afternoon. Capt. Scott will come to the school to talk with the students about space. Parents, grandparents, and others can buy and donate his book to the school and enter the school in the contest. The contest ends Oct. 31, 2008.

Guests: Richard Garriott and Starr Long were the guests for this very special Space Show program. Mr. Garriott was with us from Star City, Russia where he is currently training for his Soyuz launch to the ISS on Oct. 12, 2008. Starr Long joined us from Seattle, Washington. During this program, Mr. Garriott explained why he wanted to go to space and the ISS, his experiments that he will be performing, and his interactive participant program for those of us here, Operation Immortality (please visit www.operationimmortality for more information).
