Guest: Dr. Sam Dinkin. Topics: Private development of space. Dr. Sam Dinkin returned for this nearly two hour Space Show program to discuss his June 21, 2010 The Space Review (TSR) article, "Individuals Pick Up The Space Development Torch (www.thespacereview.com/article/1648/1). In our first segment, Sam put forth his thesis that Space X and the success of the Falcon 9 excited people and that in time many people will be able to afford to have a rocket company.

Matt Allner returned for this program to talk about space education and his teaching experiences, the NASA Explorer School program, how to become a NASA astronaut, and related items. This two hour program was in two segments. In our first segment, Matt got right into teaching issues including "teaching to the test." He got several questions wanting him to tell us all what is wrong with our educational system today, especially with science, fact, STEM, and space.

Douglas Mallette was our guest for this show to talk about his new book, "Turning Point: How Space Exploration and Development Will Determine the Rise or Fall of Humanity." We started out discussing the preliminary Augustine Panel report, national space policy, and my recent visit to ATK to find out first hand about the Ares 1 rocket. In addition, I talked about media bias and cited a few examples in the space media. This discussion took up most of the first segment. We started Segment 2 with a call from Marshall regarding an article in an Oklahoma paper about the Japanese astronaut on the ISS not changing clothes while on the station.

Guest: Dr. Jim Dator. Topics: Mars, U.S. Constitution, space governance systems, religion, space entrepreneurs. Dr. Jim Dator was our guest for this Space Show program. We started our discussion with a glance to the future for the human space program. This was a busy Open Lines program as a result of the last minute cancellation by our Nigerian guest who was to talk about the African space program. In opening this Open Lines show, several topics were put on the table including the composition of the lunar surface, China and its concern over financing the U.S. deficit by purchasing government bonds and what this may mean for the U.S. and our interests in space development.

Guest: Dr. Henry Hertzfeld. Topics: economics for the nation, NASA, and space, investment, launch rates, government spending for space and R&D. Dr. Henry Hertzfeld returned to The Space Show to discuss the current state of our national and global economy and its probable impact on space development and programs. We examined the economic impact on companies that need to raise money, those which do not have clearly defined markets, and on those companies that are self-funded.

Guest: Jim Muncy returned for this Space Show program to discuss space policy in 2008 and its transition to 2009. We talked about the current Administrator Dr. Griffin and his efforts to remain at NASA plus what this would mean for continuing with the VSE and Aries as planned.
