I am David Livingston, host of The Space Show, and we are bringing you another Deep Space Message. Rowen Poole is a student at the University of North Dakota, where I teach in the Space Studies department.

Please report directly to the SETI Institute, I know they would love to hear from you. - If there is anything you would like the world as a whole to know simultaneously, avoid the government, the internet works much better.

This is the Deep Space Message by Mel Marsh of Covington, GA: Greetings from Earth! I hope this message finds you well. The next time you are in the neighborhood of our Sun (it’s a relatively small middle-aged yellow star), please come to the third planet. You can’t miss it. It’s the small blue planet with a large satellite. While you are here, please come get me and take me back to your home. I would love to learn from you and you can learn from me. I’m an anthropologist, a student of humanity. I am also a student of space and I loved my astrobiology courses.

You've reached the human civilization in the early 21st century on planet Earth. We're the third planet from our sun on the western spiral arm of the galaxy.... Well, you know where to find us. Now, tell us where you are, and we'll send out a probe to meet you. We regret that we cannot meet you in person yet, unless you come to us...and, well, maybe you'd better hold off on that for the moment. Things are a mess down here. They really are.

But if you do decipher this communiqué, we’re broadcasting from a small planet close to a neighboring star – a world of mostly water that we call Earth. Go figure.

Marshall Martin provided this month's Deep Space Message. Here is the text of his message: To Whom It May Concern: By the time you receive this message, my planet Earth maybe gone and all my descendants too. Many think it will be by war or global warming. I know there are bigger problems looming like: A major asteroid impact, loss of our radiation blocking magnetic field, and or a stellar dust cloud blocking our sun's warming rays. If this happens, know that our species constantly fought with each other over power and prestige.
