Julie Jiru and Vicki Ann Belleau were with us on today's Space Show program as they were part of the first ever class for the newly formed Space & Telecom Law Center with the University of Nebraska Law School in Lincoln, NE. Julie and Vicki talked about the program, its focus, classes offered, leading professors and guest speakers, plus conferences that they attended as part of their program.

Dr. John Jurist returned to The Space Show to offer a response to a Space Cynics comment posted on the Space Cynics blog on April 28, 2009 by Matt Colborn. Matt asked what the positive action people should take regarding pushing towards our becoming spacefaring. We began our discussion by looking at the OCSS (www.ocspace.org), its programs, outreach, and focus toward inspiring both members and the public to value and participate in space development.

Guest: Dr. Richard Kirby. Topics: Kepler Space University, space and liberty, Theory of Money, citizen astronomer. We spoke about breaking many conventional paradigms on economics, scarcity, the theory of money, and more and Dr.

Guest: OPEN LINES. Topics: NASA bureaucracy, Return to the Moon or Mars, low cost space access, North Korea space program, SPESIF, astrosociology, education. This was our regular Open Lines program and runs slightly longer than two hours. Our program started with a call from listener Marshall about the NASA bureaucracy and what is known as “bureaucratic drift.” This was an interesting discussion which we applied to other government agencies, even national healthcare given comments from other listener. Guest: OPEN LINES: Topics: China & U.S. debt, capital for NewSpace, VSE, low cost space access, business fundamentals, Phoenix Lights, UFOs. This was a busy Open Lines program as a result of the last minute cancellation by our Nigerian guest who was to talk about the African space program. In opening this Open Lines show, several topics were put on the table including the composition of the lunar surface, China and its concern over financing the U.S. deficit by purchasing government bonds and what this may mean for the U.S. and our interests in space development.

Guest: Dr. Henry Hertzfeld. Topics: economics for the nation, NASA, and space, investment, launch rates, government spending for space and R&D. Dr. Henry Hertzfeld returned to The Space Show to discuss the current state of our national and global economy and its probable impact on space development and programs. We examined the economic impact on companies that need to raise money, those which do not have clearly defined markets, and on those companies that are self-funded.

Guest: Open Lines with Dr. David Livingston. Nearly all the first hour of the program was devoted to business planning, due diligence, engineering, and number crunching analysis. I went through the business plan outline I use, responded to listener questions and comments and talked about some do's and don'ts regarding business planning, negotiations, and talking with investors as well as others. Later in the show, several listeners asked me about my thoughts on 2008 space milestones, my view of things to come in 2009, and my take on Dr. Griffin as NASA Administrator.

Guest: Dr. David Livingston hosted an Open Lines Space Show program for this election night special program. The first segment featured my personal thoughts, opinions, and analysis regarding space solar power (SSP). If you want to know what I really think about SSP, listen to what I have to say about it. As this was election night, we talked some with the listeners about the election, about how space might fair with the new administration and Congress, and what U.S. space policy might be like in coming years.
