We welcomed back Taylor Dinerman and learned that he is no longer writing for The Space Review but is now writing for the Hudson Institute New York. Guest: Robert Zimmerman. Topics: Falcon 9 successful launch, U.S. Space Policy, Bat fungus and caves. We welcomed back Robert Zimmerman to talk all things space policy. We started our first segment with a discussion on the successful Falcon 9 launch on June 4, 2010. Bob said it was exhilarating to watch and we all had high praise for Space X. Our guest talked at length about the need for the private sector to continue with these successes to lower the cost of space access.

Lesson 9 focused on launch system economics, markets, demand, and the definition of commercial versus government launchers. In our fist segment, our guest panel expert, Dr. Hertzfeld, defined commercial which as you will hear was no easy task to do.

Guest: Open Lines with Dr. David Livingston. Topics: nuclear rocket propulsion, VASIMR, space policy, ISS, Constellation, Ares 1. This Open Lines program was a two hour discussion with many listener phone calls and email/chat questions. As with all open lines shows, they have a mind of their own and go off in a direction that you the listeners want. An Open Lines program is a listener driven content oriented program so here is what we talked about this time. During the first segment, I led with a discussion of the copyright issues for The Space Show.

Guest: Robert Zimmerman. Topics: US space policy, space vision, Constellation and more. Robert Zimmerman returned to provide an assessment of where US space policy is after the Administration made its Feb. 1 announcement for its plans using the 2011 Budget. In our first segment, Bob started off saying that based on the administration proposals, there were no long term goals and this is what has caused a lack of political support. Listeners immediately objected to what Bob said and emailed the show parts of the budget stating what the long term plans were about.

Chris Carberry, former Executive Director of the Mars Society, joined us to let us know about the upcoming Legislative Blitz in Washington, DC from Feb. 21-23.. In our first segment, Chris updated us about his change and departure from the Mars Society and indicated he will soon have announcements to make about some new Mars related activities he is undertaking.

Guest: OPEN LINES. Topics: Space policy, Rasmussen space polls, science and technology for the future, space advocacy. Today's program was OPEN LINES and extended beyond the two hour time due to a last minute 11th hour listener phone call. In segment one, I read a series of questions from listener Kelly that came in by email and we made those discussion topics, focusing on the viability of commercial space and comparing them to civil space programs.

Jim McDade was our guest for this Space Show program, discussing a wide variety of topics from recent Rasmussen space polls, the Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel (ASAP), and much more. In segment one, we jumped right into the Rasmussen poll showing 50% of Americans favor a cut in NASA spending.
