Guest: Tom Olson. Topics: ISDC 2009, Space Investment Summit 6 (SIS 6), Space Solar Power, problem solving, NewSpace economics. Tom Olson was the guest today to summarize both the ISDC 2009 Conference and the SIS 6. We started our discussion by focusing on the last day of ISDC with the space solar panel discussions. Despite some poking fun and jabbing at what we called the Church of Space Solar Power, Tom summarized the sessions on both Saturday and Sunday with a focus on the need to close the business case for SSP.

Guest: Roger Lenard. Topics: Space Solar Power, tethers, beaming energy from space, military needs for SSP, tethers. Roger Lenard, president of Heliosat, Inc. was our guest for this show. We began our discussion with Roger talking about SSP and the unique approach of Heliosat, Inc. in bringing SSP to fruition. Listen to his plan and objectives and see what you think. We talked about the use of tethers to boost the satellites from LEO to GEO. We also talked about low cost launch options which seem promising. You will not want to miss this discussion.

Guest: Dr. Pete Worden for the first hour followed by Open Lines. Topics: Space Solar Power (SSP), NASA Ames Research Center. Dr. Pete Worden, Center Director for the NASA Ames Research Center, was the guest for the first hour of the show. The last segment was an Open Lines discussion primarily geared to our space solar power discussion with Dr. Worden. Our discussion with Dr. Worden followed the business case discussion on SSP stemming from the debate at the ATWG Conference in early December 2008 at Ames. During that debate, Dr.

Dr. Brad Edwards returned to The Space Show to discuss energy issues from space, SSP, alternative energy, and of course to update us on the space elevator. The first part of the program focused on space solar power and the need to be starting the development of an SSP test station along with other alternative energy programs given the long lead time to the establishment of commercial working alternative energy systems. Dr. Harvey Willenberg returned to The Space Show for this special program focusing on space for energy uses, HE3, fusion, nuclear power, fossil fuels, space solar power and more. Dr. Willenberg does a superb job discussing these topics from the perspectives of science (physics) breakeven analysis, engineering breakeven analysis, and the economic breakeven analysis, then blending them all together for a sane energy program. We had questions on fusion, HE3, alternative energy, energy from space, the politics of space energy and much more.
