Guest: Bobby Block. Topics: space journalism, space policy news, Florida Space Coast. We welcomed Bobby Block, Space Editor for the Orlando Sentinel to the show. We started our first segment which was one hour by asking Bobby about his transition to space journalism from his previous journalistic assignments at the Wall Street Journal, as a foreign correspondent, even covering various global hot spots. You will find his transition story interesting. Bobby offered us his opinion on Florida space policy and politics and some of the positions being articulated by Senator Nelson in the state.

Guests: Dr. Daniel Rasky and Bruce Thieman. Topics: CRASTE 2010, commercial space perspectives with the Air Force and NASA. We welcomed both our guests to discuss the upcoming CRASTE 2010 conference (www.usasymposium.com/craste/default.htm). Known as the Commercial and Government Responsive Access To Space Technology Exchange, this conference will be at NASA Ames from Oct. 25-28, 2010.

Guest: Eric Lerner. Topics: Dense Plasma Focus (DPF) fusion, fusion energy in general. Eric Lerner was our guest to discuss his work with DPF fusion energy and cosmology. In our first segment, Eric provided us with an update and overview from his last appearance on The Space Show which was in August 2006. Eric explained DPF and responded to the frequent question which is why start with boron and hydrogen fuel when the deuterium tritium reaction is much easier. You will certainly want to listen to his explanation of this.

Guest: Gary Hudson: Topics: Risk taking, launch vehicles, flight safety test program, space tourism. We started our discussion with guest Gary Hudson regarding the COTS program, the Augustine Panel, and Unfunded Space Act Agreements. Gary described why he believes that COTS should be a more competitive and open process. You definitely want to hear what he has to say. This discussion led to an exchange with listeners as well as the host regarding the way in which bad engineering projects continue to grow, get funding, and be implemented.

Guest: Dr. Eligar Sadeh. Topics: Contested Space Domain, space weaponization, Iran, nuclear missiles, China and the ISS, treaties, space advocacy, military space, Israel. PLEASE NOTE THAT DR. Guests: Professor Joanne Gabrynowicz, Director of the National Center for Remote Sensing, Air and Space Law, along with students Jason Crook, Erik Lundin, Rebecca Beckett, Nathan Wilson, and Nick Welly, were the guests for this two hour Space Show program focusing on this excellent space law center. The students joined the discussion at various times during the program as we discussed space environmental issues, military space and policy, China, and the need for an interdisciplinary focus for space studies of all kind.

Guests: Andrea Seastrand and Janice Dunn with Matt Everingham of the California Space Authority (CSA), followed by Ken Davidian of NASA, followed by Jim Buenrostro of the team Technology Ranch at the NASA Lunar Regolith Challenge at Cal Poly were our guests for this set of taped interviews. We start this set of interviews with a message from me, your host of the Space Show, regarding the Falcon 1 launch attempt and my comments about it. As you will hear, I relate these comments and events to the Challenge which took place at Cal Poly this weekend.

Dr. Eligar Sadeh returned to The Space Show to update us on the recent National Space Forum which was held in Washington, DC. in early February 2008. Dr. Sadeh summarized most of the panels and presentations at the Forum, so we addressed U.S. space policy for the upcoming administration, U.S. space leadership and its effectiveness, space commerce, and civil space. It was brought to his attention that many attending the Forum were disappointed that NewSpace / alt.space were not a significant focus of any of the Forums. USAF Col. (Ret) Rick Searfoss, former pilot NASA astronaut with three space missions, was the guest on The Space Show for Dec. 2, 2003. Col. Searfoss spoke at length about his flying experience in the Air Force and at NASA, the path to take for those that want to be future astronauts, his missions that he flew, astronaut training, politics within NASA, and what would have been involved in they had a mission to return to the Moon.
