Dr. Carol Rosin, an expert on the militarization of space and transforming military space to commercial space, economic and job stimulation and more was the guest on this Space Show Program. As a result of keen interest in this topic and the questions/listener participation, this was an extra long program, nearly two hours. The entire program is archived. Dr. Rosin began her discussion by defining the subject, what is meant by terms such as the militarization of space, weapons in space, and what is available in space now versus what might soon be in place in space. She presented listeners with critical analysis and facts, separating out the use of space for intelligence and information gathering purposes as compared to having the military actually place weapons in space or use space for the distribution of weapons or some type of of occupying/controlling military force. Dr. Rosin talked about the need to enter a new paradigm of thinking where the vision of the peaceful use of space, including commercial development, works on a global level for all peoples of the world to end the type of fighting, wars, economic and political hardship and brutality that exists on Earth today. In this new consciousness and paradigm, space weapons do not exist because we do not allow them to exist. She pointed out that now is the time to take action to prevent this because the weapons, while being planned and possibly funded, do not yet exist. Her efforts to prevent space weaponization from happening are global and include the the acceptance of the Space Preservation Treaty which she described in some detail on this program. Dr. Rosin was given challenging questions from the listeners, usually making the point that her beliefs and efforts might be well and good, but that they won't work in our world today and that to try out those methods would be to seriously weaken the United States and endanger Americans. Dr. Rosin welcomed these questions and spent considerable time responding to them to explain why the point of views articulated by the listeners were not accurate given the work she has been doing, her experience with her work and people around the world, even in countries such as China, and why what she was proposing would work. I am sure many Space Show listeners will find this program controversial and challenging to existing belief systems and experiences. However, I encourage listening with an open mind. The vision that Dr. Rosin talks about throughout the interview is the vision I have and why I do the Space Show. I do believe that through expanding commercial space and space access, we have the best possible means to resolve the problems that plague our terrestrial world. While I have not personally focused on the weapons or militarization components of today's space, I have no doubt that what Dr. Rosin presents on this program would be a mega step forward in the vision that both she and I share and that I know many of you share. Like many of you, changing my paradigm and going beyond my concerns, my historical senses, and my existing reality to something new and what appears to be risky and dangerous is not an easy thing to do. Still, it is important that we listen to what Dr. Rosin says. It is not the usual space advocate message and it is not the usual space advocate vision. For sure, Dr. Rosin will come back to the Space Show to continue this discussion at a later date. If she can do it from Ecuador when she moves there, as she explains during the interview, we will have our first interview ever from that country and I look forward to it.
