We welcomed Steve Wolfe back to the show to discuss the second annual Beyond Earth Institute Symposium scheduled for November 1-2, 2023 in Washington, DC.  Steve started with a short history of his involvement in space going back to his authoring the Space Settlement Act passed by Congress and signed by the president at the time.  He continued on with his history regarding settlement and commercial spaced development up to his role in creating the Beyond Earth Institute and their annual symposiums. Steve described the Institute as a special type of think tank. You don't want to miss his comments on the think tank aspect which appeared early in the program.

To find out the specifics for the symposium, visit https://beyondearthsymposium.org. Steven mentioned by name many of the space industry leaders that are both involved with the Institute and with the Symposium.  One that he talked about, a friend of mine, was Courtney Stadd.  Steve talked about the people involved and those participating in the Symposium having a visionary view of space and talking about big visionary topics.  Listen to his explanation of this and tell us what you think by posting on our blog for this show.  Steve proceeded to mention topics and themes for the event, the participating government agencies and space company representatives.  When asked if the event was pro commercial space, Steve replied that it was a mixed focus.  Our guest was asked if they would be talking about the renewal of the commercial space learning curve law for human commercial spaceflight.  He said there was definitely a push to extend it.  As for themes, he mentioned surviving in space along with cislunar space development.  Steve also said there would be a significant focus on the financial management needed for large space structures.  He had more to say on that topic so do listen to all of his commentary.

As we were nearing the end, our guest talked about event sponsors, logistics, live streaming concerns, students and more.  He was asked a final listener question by Tom in Florida regarding using public or commercial funding for space settlement development.  Steve said it did not have to be either/or.
