John Batchelor and I welcomed back Rob Godwin for a double segment Hotel Mars program about Rob's book, along with co-author Fred Ordway (deceased), "2001: The Heritage and Legacy of the Space Odyssey." Rob was asked multiple questions about the three space craft, private space stations then and now in reality, the monolith, Hal 9000 and giving AI personality, the risks of AI today and more. Rob also talked about SpaceX, modern plans for the Moon and even for going to Mars with Starship, the influence of the movie on the reality of today's space engineering for human spaceflight and the movies contribution toward innovation, creativity, and engineering applications.
