John Batchelor and I welcomed back Dr. Haym Benaroya for this 20 minute double Hotel Mars segment that focused on the Trump Administration and a potential return of human spaceflight lunar activities. Dr. Benaroya was asked about new additions to the Trump Landing Team for space, their interest in commercial space and going back to the Moon. We also talked about the Japanese interest with the Lunar Mining Company and funding ISPACE.Inc. In addition, we looked at both the Chinese and Russian interest in the Moon. John and I asked our guest about financing lunar projects from potential lunar commerce and Public-Private Partnerships. John pressed our guest to explain why it was necessary to go to the Moon first and then to Mars. Near the end of our double segment, I asked Dr. Benaroya about possible timelines for returning to the Moon, wondering if we could do it within the initial term of office for President-elect Trump. As a result of his answer, I asked Haym for his thoughts a our timeline for humans to Mars. Other topics during our discussion included SLS, Orion, Falcon Heavy and the proposed Russian-Boeing lunar space stations.
You can email Mr. Batchelor or Dr. Benaroya through me. Dr. Benaroya's excellent book is "Turning Dust to Gold: Building a Future on the Moon and Mars."
