We welcomed Jordan Noone to the program to discuss Embedded Ventures and their space business and investing strategy. In addition, we spoke with Jordan about his Relativity Space experience along with his experience at SpaceX.  In order to discuss Embedded Ventures, Jordan started out with his work with SpaceX and then his part in the creation of Relativity Space with the goal of 3D printing a rocket.  We spent a good amount of time talking about Relativity Space during the program, partially because of my long term interest in the company but also because of the relevance and experience gained from that company that Jordan transferred to his new company, Embedded Ventures.

A significant part of our discussion focused on visionary leadership but the way Jordan described it such leadership was a bit different from the traditional talk about visionary leadership. Jordan talked about funding early stage companies without revenue but being able to determine which companies and which leaders would make something out of the company.  Don't miss his commentary on this topic.  Market timing was a big part of our conversation.  A few emails came in asking about EFTs, SPACs and some of the current commercial space investment opportunities.  Jordan had much to say on this topic. I told my public relations experience (once again), noticing the growth of PR companies wanting airtime for NewSpace or commercial space companies because they raised some bucks. I would then do about five minutes of due diligence on them and realize zero revenue from operations, crazy money flowing to crazy dreams but when you look under the table, not much there - at least not yet.  Jordan and I exchanged thoughts on what I told him and we were in agreement on this new trend with commercial space.

Listener Todd from San Diego sent a note asking about investing in the EV Opportunity Fund.  Jordan did say there were investment opportunities, addressed some of the investor requirements and annual costs but urged interested potential investors to check out all the requirement on the Opportunity Fund website, https://angel.co/v/back/embedded-ventures-opportunity-fund.  This part of the discussion led to our larger discussion on the overall space economy.  Jordan used the term "early craziness."  Listen to hear what he meant by that.  This prompted a call from Fremont John who is an EFT investor in UFO as he said on air.  John mentioned that he really liked the idea of diversification but our guest suggested diversification was not a path to efficiency.  Make sure you hear all of what Jordan said on this issue.  While you might disagree, it is definitely worth considering the perspective Jordan brought to the table.  Post your thoughts on this by giving us a blog comment or two.

As we moved toward the close of the program, Jordan talked about management companies having different purposes.  Pre-revenue, growth, revenue and more.  He talked about choosing the type of company that offers what you want and expect.  With our hour rapidly coming to a close (we did go over), I asked Jordan about Embedded Ventures and our Space Force.  This was a fascinating part of our discussion which opened to door to national security, venture capital attitudes about national security and our adversaries, working against the U.S. interest and compromising values by working with foreign investors. I strongly urge you to listen carefully to the last 20 or so minutes of our discussion as we addressed this complicated but so very important vital issue, actually set of issues.  Our guest talked about the Committee on Foreign Investment, our congress, foreign investment strategy designed to slow down and weaken the U.S. as compared to specific foreign entities.  He explained in detail how the process worked and is playing out.  I found it interesting how he tied venture capital players into this scenario.  He explained how easy it was for a U.S. company to lose control to a foreign interest.  As I said, this was our topic for approximately the last 20+ minutes of our discussion.  Parts of it were specifically vague as neither of us wanted a full on political discussion.  I do urge you to listen carefully to what Jordan addressed and talked about.  We would like to hear from you so if you have thoughts on the comments and perspectives of our guest, please post them on our blog.

Thank you for listening to this program.  Again, post your questions/comments for Jordan or about anything said on the show on our blog.  If you want to reach our guest, you can do so through the blog or through me at The Space Show.
