Feedback: What did you think of this show?:
Guest: Isaac Arthur; Topics: We talked about Isaac's "Science and Futurism" YouTube channel program plus multiple topics he has discussed and which were also of interest to Space Show listeners through phone calls and emails. Multiple topics were addressed in this discussion.

We welcomed Isaac Arthur to The Space Show by asking him for a brief introduction, sharing with us how he got his interest in science, space, futurism and how he got started with his program. Its an interesting story starting when he was a small kid so listen to it. He did go on to college and grad school to earn physics degrees but as to what led him to his present work was perhaps his willingness and openness to follow his passion. Again, a most interesting story with information in it that we can all benefit from if we actually listen rather than just hear.
Isaac was asked for his thoughts and analysis on several topics common to his program and The Space Show. As we went through many of the subjects and topics rather fast, as I have done with other programs, I call your attention to our Tags which fairly summarize what we talked about with callers and learned from the emails. The Tags are repeated below for your convenience:
"Isaac Arthur, Science and Futurism (SFIA), YouTube SFIA Channel, science education, Fermi Paradox, interstellar travel, Tic Tac, UAP, aliens, Mars sample return, space settlement, humans in space, SLS, SpaceX, science fiction, AI and Robotics, advanced military technology, the human brain, life extension, time travel, space colonization, terraforming, an advanced society through the looking glass, The Star Trek Prime Directive, space property rights, space mining, space based solar power, beaming technology and weapons, the Death Ray, societal polarization, new physics, non-exclusive technology, SSP self-replicating technology, O2 toxicity, UAP as mundane objects, AI as a companion, the movie Blade Runner, humans and 1g, low gravity for settlement, pregnancy and children in space, humans BLEO, Moon first before Mars, Lunar and Mars human timeline."
A few topics stood out for me. First, we had a terrific discussion with a few callers regarding the Fermi Paradox. I enjoyed the multiple comments offered by Isaac regarding the possible existence of aliens. I thought he brought to the table some very relevant observations. Space Solar Power was another part of our discussion that stood out for me. So did the back and forth on AI and advanced robotics. Later in the show Isaac was asked for his opinion on a Mars Sample Return given the recent appearance of Dr. Zubrin on The Space Show talking about the same. Isaac made some very good points that you will want to hear. As we were about to end the program, given our space settlement and humans in space comments during this program, I brought up the fact that we humans are 1g critters. I wanted to know what Isaac thought should happen with humans, micro g and zero g, going to Mars, trying to determine the gravity prescription both for children in space and even pregnancy. Rather than just tell you what Isaac had to say about this big question, listen to him tell you himself. Let us know if you agree or disagree or have a different view by posting on our blog. In fact do post your thoughts and comments on all of this discussion on our blog.
Our guest provided us with a short summary, made it clear he wanted humans to go to Mars but thought we needed do the Moon first and learn how to safely do things in space. He specifically said we needed to bring the early Mars visitors back alive.
Please post your comments/questions for Isaac Arthur on our blog for this show. He can be reached through me, through his website which is www.isaacarthur.net or though his podcast and YouTube channel.
